Clean Hardwood Floors With Pine Sol

Hardwood floors are making a comeback as the flooring of choice for many homeowners because they look great, are easy to keep clean, and require little maintenance. Along with some tips for basic cleaning of your hardwood floors here are some ways to use the popular household cleaner, Pine Sol #xAE; that will help keep them looking great for years to come.

Clean Hardwood Floors with Pine Sol#xAE;


1. Place area rugs at each entryway to prevent family and guests from tracking in dirt and grit that can mar and scratch the surface of your hardwood floor. Place additional mats in front of the kitchen sink, refrigerators with in-door water dispensers, and any other location where water might be splashed. Shake rugs out regularly.


2. Sweep floors regularly with a good quality broom. Collect the dirt in a dustpan and discard into the trash. Use a vacuum cleaner with the beater bar turned off to remove dust and dirt from cracks between planks.


3. Fill the 2 Gal. bucket half full of very warm water. Add #xBC; cup of Pine Sol#xAE; Brand Cleaner to the warm water. If you have sensitive skin put on rubber gloves.


4. Immerse one sponge into the diluted Pine Sol#xAE; solution. Wring the sponge out until it is damp, not wet. Rub the sponge over any heavily soiled areas on the floor that were not removed by sweeping and vacuuming.


5. Rinse out the sponge under warm, running water. Squeeze out excess water. Rub the sponge over the area just cleaned to remove any remaining cleanser. Dry any moisture with the towel. Buff the floor with a terry cloth mop.

Clean up spills as soon as they happen.


Keep your pets toenails trimmed to prevent scratching your hardwood floors.


Purchase area rugs that can breathe. Avoid rubber-backed rugs with can damage your hardwood floor.


The manufacturer of Pine Sol #xAE; Brand Cleaner does not recommend its use for cleaning hardwood floors.


Never use ammonia-based cleaners on hardwood floors. They can dull the finish.


Don#x2019;t use excessive amounts of water on hardwood floors. Moisture can cause hardwood floors to swell and crack. Clean up spills as soon as they happen.
