If you want to replace the speakers in your Chrysler Sebring, you may think the task is beyond your capabilities. The speakers, located in the front door and rear deck, are not readily accessible. But the panels are removable with some basic tools and a little time, and no complicated electrical wiring is necessary. It's a job that's well suited for the do-it-yourselfer.
Instructions
Front Door Speakers
1. Insert the front edge of your panel tool under the edge of the sail panel at the front edge of the window. Pry out the sail panel with the tool.
2. Pry out the small plastic screw covers behind the door release handle and in the door pull cup. Remove the Phillips screws located behind the covers.
3. Loosen and take out three Phillips screws located along the bottom edge of the door panel.
4. Pry around the edge of the door panel with your panel tool to release the clips holding the panel in place. Lift up and remove the door panel from the door.
5. Loosen and remove the Phillips screws on the perimeter of the speaker. Pull out the speaker and unplug the wires from the back. Plug in the new speaker and screw it into the opening with the screws you removed. Replace the door panels.
Rear Deck Speakers
6. Fold down the rear seat back cushions.
7. Remove two plastic screw covers from the top of the pillar trim panels on either side of the rear deck. Remove the Phillips screws located behind them.
8. Pry out six push-pin retaining clips from the front edge of the rear deck and side panels exposed by the lowered seat back cushions. Pull the rear deck forward until the speakers are exposed.
9. Loosen and remove the Phillips screws on the perimeter of each speaker. Pull out the speakers and unplug the wires from the back. Plug in the new speakers and screw them into the openings with the screws you removed. Replace the rear deck and reassemble the removed panels.
Tips Warnings
Test your speakers before replacing panels or grilles.
