Program A Uniden Scanner

Scanners can be programmed to monitor emergency services.

Uniden is one of the top names in scanner manufacturers. The North American office sells Uniden products throughout North, Central and South America, according to the company's website. Before you can use a Uniden scanner, it needs to be set up. You need to program the frequencies you want to monitor. The task isn't difficult, but can take some time.

Instructions

1. Assign a number, starting at 1, to each of the scanner frequencies. This number will represent the location of the frequency in the scanner's memory.

2. Turn the Uniden scanner on. Press the button on the front panel that's marked E/PGM. You'll see an icon on the screen which shows the scanner is now in the program mode. If the channel number isn't 1, press 1 and press the Hold button.

3. Use the keypad to enter the first frequency number. Include the decimal point. Press the E/PGM button again to program it into the memory of the Uniden scanner.

4. Press the Up key on the scanner keypad to advance to the next channel, which is number 2. Repeat earlier steps to program the remaining frequencies into the scanner memory.

5. Press the Hold or Scan button to leave the program mode when you are finished.

Tips Warnings

You can find scanner frequencies for organizations such as your local police, fire department and rescue squad on the Internet.

You can also program just one number, or a few numbers, into the Uniden scanner. To do this, use the Up or Down keys to find the channel number you want. Then, proceed to enter the frequency number. Any frequency that was previously programmed to that channel will be replaced by the new frequency, according to Uniden.
