Mount A Bosch Dishwasher Under A Granite Countertop

Class up your kitchen.

Finishing your kitchen with a Bosch dishwasher and granite countertops will help to create a high-end look. It is uncomplicated to install the dishwasher underneath granite, requiring only one modification to accommodate the hard countertop. The installation should take about two to three hours and requires some plumbing knowledge. Included with the dishwasher is the drain hose and some hardware. But you will need to buy a dishwasher installation kit with a power cord, a steel-braided hose and plumbing connections.

Instructions

1. Remove the toe panel from the front of the dishwasher. Locate the junction box on the right hand side underneath the toe panel. Unscrew and remove the junction box. Unscrew the strain relief plate from the junction box. Insert the strain relief into the strain relief plate. Put 3 inches of the power cord through the strain relief. Tighten the clamp around the power cord by turning both screws until sides of the clamp are flush. Screw the strain relief plate with the power cord into the junction box.

Strip 2 to 3 inches of the outer casing from the power cord. Use the wire strippers to strip #xBD; inch off the three inner wires. Connect the bare black wire into the opening marked L and tighten down the screw carefully. Repeat with the bare white wire in the opening marked N, and with the green or copper wire in the opening marked G. Screw the junction box onto the dishwasher.

2. Locate the drain connection on the rear of the dishwasher. Attach the drain hose snugly onto the drain connection. Secure with one squeeze clamp or screwdriver clamp included with the dishwasher. Attach the other end of the drain hose to the drain connection under the sink and secure the other clamp.

3. Carefully tip the dishwasher and lay it on its back. Install the brass elbow onto the hot water connection on the dishwasher, using thread sealer on both sides of the elbow. Connect the fresh water line to the elbow. Position the fresh water line carefully in the channel that runs from the fresh water connection, underneath the dishwasher and out the back. Make sure that the line stays in the channel while setting the dishwasher upright.

4. Remove the preinstalled mounting brackets on the top of the dishwasher by using pliers to twist to the side and pull up. Locate the side mounting slots. There is one on either side of the dishwasher about halfway up. Install the mounting brackets by sliding each into a side slot. Bend the bracket flanges up with pliers to prevent them from falling out of the slot.

5. Push the dishwasher underneath the granite countertop. Line the front of the dishwasher door flush with the cabinet drawers and doors. Locate the four leveling adjustments on the lower front of the dishwasher. Level the dishwasher from side to side by turning the leveling screw clockwise to raise the dishwasher and counter-clockwise to lower the dishwasher. Level the dishwasher from front to back by using the other two leveling screws.

6. Insert a mounting screw into the mounting bracket on one side of the dishwasher and seat it into the side of the cabinet. Insert a mounting screw into the mounting bracket on the other side of the dishwasher and seat it. Tighten both screws down carefully without overtightening.

7. Run the Bosch dishwasher without dishes or detergent for a full cycle. Inspect the hot water line and the drain hose under the kitchen sink for any leaks. Look under the dishwasher for any leaks. If no leaks are present, screw the toe-kick cover to the dishwasher.
