Things Needed For Foot Spas

Give your feet a relaxing spa treatment.

Foot spas are relaxing and inviting to anyone who enjoys pampering themselves. There are basic tools needed to successfully operate a foot spa. Many of these items are inexpensive and are available at any health and beauty store.

Tools

Basic tools for a foot spa include nail clippers, scissors, cuticle nippers, cuticle pushers and nail files. A pumice stone and buffer are especially useful in softening rough areas on the feet. Purchasing a few of each tool is a good idea so there is always one of each available while the others are sterilizing. Take proper care of the tools and throw out and replace any that are malfunctioning immediately. Always sterilize the tools between each use to be sure there is no bacteria or fungus growth. Read the instructions for each tool to insure proper use. Using a tool incorrectly can result in an injury.

Foot Bath

To create the most relaxing pedicure experience, invest in a pedicure spa. These foot baths are padded and equipped with massage mechanisms that can be adjusted to personal preference. Many of these spas are equipped with jets of water which wash over the feet as they soak. Many of these baths come equipped with a chair attached, but they can be purchased separately as well. Just add warm water to the bath and soak the feet while the pedicure is taking place.

Cleaning

Foot fungus and bacteria grow quickly so be sure to have the proper cleaning products on hand at all times. Clean and sterilize all tools and equipment after each use and at the beginning and end of each day. It's best to purchase hypoallergenic cleaning solutions to prevent allergic reactions. Disposable liners can be purchased for the foot bath and should be changed after each use.
