Daily grime and grind will get your faucets filthy; they should be cleaned immediately after use, with a thorough cleaning regularly. In addition to regular cleaning and care, you can achieve a very impressive level of shine with the proper cleaning techniques, making your faucets the most appealing part of your kitchen. The worst problem is not always the faucets themselves, but the rest of the hardware, including the disposal, which can become stopped up, especially in small sinks.
Instructions
1. Wipe down the entire faucet, removing objects and dirt by hand or with your paper towels.
2. Apply your cleaner using a washcloth or use a spray bottle mist on the faucet hardware. Because it is all waterproof, do not worry about excessive moisture or cleaner.
3. Scrub all the hard surfaces (faucet, handles, sink) with your soft scrub brush. Grohe faucets are durable and will not scratch easily as long as you do not use a wire brush.
4. Rinse surfaces with water, using your paper towels to wipe up the excess water and work any difficult to remove spots. Make sure the surfaces are mostly dry and sufficiently cleaned before moving on to the polish.
5. Wipe a small amount of polish onto a soft cloth or paper towel. Use this paper towel in small circles along all the shiny metallic surfaces of your faucet and sink. Start with small circles, then gradually grow them into larger circles to prevent streaking.
6. Allow at least 30 minutes for your faucet and sink to dry.
Tips Warnings
Once a year, take your faucet cleaning a step further and remove and clean the individual parts of the faucet such as the cartridge system. You will need a hex key (3/32-inch) and a wrench, but you can typically take your faucet apart in under five minutes and set your cartridge and individual pieces soaking in a warm vinegar/water bath. This will greatly extend the life of your faucet as well as improving water quality and pressure.
Many household cleaners can be toxic if swallowed, inhaled, or with skin contact. Always read warning labels first and be sure to avoid chemicals that are extremely toxic. You can use a mixture of vinegar (10 percent) and water for most cleaning and baking soda for the final polish.
