Use Colon Cleanse

Colon cleanses allow you to start off with a clean slate that includes healthy eating habits. Practice abstinence with bad lifestyle habits such as smoking and drinking. Using a colon cleanse takes some discipline, easy access to a bathroom and the addition of some nutrients to aid the body in eliminating backed up fecal matter and undigested food.

Instructions

Flush It Out

1. Cut out the bad foods. A big part of a colon cleanse is eliminating bad foods from the diet. Cut out any foods that are deep fried, highly processed, refined and high in fat.

2. Eat the right foods. While doing a colon cleanse, you are instructed to eat certain foods. Some of these include organic chicken and turkey, fruits and vegetables, essential fatty acids like fish oil and also well-cooked grains like millet and quinoa.

3. Drink a lot of water. Generally for colon cleanses, drink 8 to 10 glasses of purified water a day. This is the only fluid that is recommended--no soda, alcohol, coffee or heavily caloried beverages.

4. Take the supplements. Colon cleanses come with supplements to take. They are usually divided into morning and nighttime doses. These have specific nutrients in them that aid in elimination.

5. Use a fiber supplement. Fiber is recommended with colon cleanses as well to further aid in the elimination of toxins. These are usually in powder form. Psyllium husks or chicory fiber are two common examples.

6. Stay the course. After the cleanse is over, the idea is to stay on the healthy path. Otherwise, it would have been done for nothing. Continue to eat clean, avoid bad foods, get plenty of fiber and drink plenty of water.
