Prevent Gastroparesis

With Gastroparesis your stomach muscles don't work properly and your stomach empties slower than normal. This causes digestive problems, nausea and vomiting, and blood sugar problems. There are some things you can do to try and prevent Gastroparesis.

Instructions

Prevent Gastroparesis

1. The first and most successful way to prevent Gastroparesis is by keeping your blood sugar under control. Diabetes is the leading cause of Gastroparesis, so taking care of yourself and keeping your blood sugar in normal ranges will go a long way towards preventing this condition.

2. Another cause of Gastroparesis is eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. If you have an eating disorder you should get help now. Letting these conditions continue can lead to Gastroparesis along with other health problems.

3. Staying healthy is another way to ward of Gastroparesis, because many medications can lead to this condition. Some of which are antidepressants, pain medications, and calcium channel blockers. Practicing stress relief techniques for depression and stress, and exercising and eating correctly to keep your body in good working order will help prevent or lower your need for these medications.

4. Some other reasons for Gastroparesis are cancer treatment, certain diseases such as hypothyroidism and Parkinson’s, and having surgery. There isn’t much you can do to prevent these, but if you develop a condition that can lead to Gastroparesis, or have to have surgery, you should try to control the condition as best as possible, and make sure to follow your doctor’s orders after surgery to prevent complications.

5. A healthy mind and body will go a long way towards preventing Gastroparesis! So do the best you can to stay healthy, active, and happy!
