When you feel fresh and energized in the morning, it is common for that feeling to spill over and have a positive effect on the rest of your day. On the other hand, when you suffer from a lack of energy and are feeling tired, it is more likely to carry over and have a negative impact. While you may not always feel jovial about the day to come, there are simple ways to feel energized during the morning hours and be more capable of handling any situation you encounter.
Instructions
1. Avoid eating high-fat or sugary foods before going to bed at night. Make your final meal for the day at least two to three hours before bedtime.
2. Get between seven to nine hours of restful and uninterrupted sleep at night. Turn off the television or take the television and any other distractions out of your bedroom entirely.
3. Go to bed 30 minutes earlier and then wake up a 30 minutes earlier than normal. Use this time to allow your body to slowly wake up. Stretch and ponder the day ahead of you. Breathe deeply and appreciate the quietness of the morning without jumping up and rushing into the day.
4. Drink two glasses of water when you first wake up in the morning. Water will hydrate and refresh your body, leaving you feeling energized.
5. Take a relaxing cold shower in the morning. If you are unable to tolerate a cold shower, make it cool. Avoid having a hot shower or even a warm shower in the early morning. These types of showers tend to relax the body for rest as opposed to invigorating and stimulating it as a cold shower will.
6. Go for a 20- to 30-minute walk every morning. Workout at the gym for half an hour. Exercising in the morning will stimulate your body and fill you with energy. Walking and jogging in particular will expose you to the sun, which also helps you to feel more energized.
7. Stop skipping breakfast in the morning or eating foods that are high in sugar, such as doughnuts or pastries. Sit down and eat breakfast before you leave the house to kick start your metabolism and give your body the energy that it needs to feel good and cope with the day. Try to eat a breakfast that consists of a protein, a whole grain and one or more vegetables and fruits. If you have little time to eat, have a bowl of oatmeal and a glass of orange juice.
