Whether it is because of peer pressure or because of the images they see on television or in magazines, teens have never been under more pressure to be attractive. One of the most common methods of trying to achieve this goal is to take diet pills. While there are of course some positives to the use of diet pills, there are also some downsides that can greatly affect one's health.
Pro: Helps With Clinical Obesity
If a teenager is clinically obese, weight loss pills are an excellent way to curb weight gain and shed unwanted pounds.
Con: Steatorrhea
Streatorrhea is, without a doubt, one of the most embarrassing medical side effects imaginable. Caused by a chemical reaction to certain diet pills, steatorrhea is where excess fat is passed through a person's body via their stool. This is usually accompanied by stomach pains.
Pro: Increased Energy
Many diet pills on the market also contain chemicals that increase a person's physical energy, allowing them to work harder or otherwise spend more time on their feet.
Con: Addiction
Unfortunately, when you take diet pills you also run the risk of becoming addicted to certain supplements in those pills. While this risk is minimal, the effects can be disastrous.
Pro: Physical Fitness
Many dietary pills are not designed to work on their own, and encourage individuals to go to the gym and exercise. Not only does the individual then lose weight, but they're also getting in better physical condition.
