Limit Fatigue

Don't let fatigue take over your life.

If you constantly feel tired and rundown no matter how much sleep you get, you're likely suffering from fatigue. You may feel as if life is burning you out and that work, family responsibilities and social obligations are overwhelming you. You need to learn eliminate or at least reduce the fatigue that's become a part of your life.

Instructions

1. Drink a lot of water. Drinking water boosts your metabolism and keeps it working efficiently; it also keeps skin looking moisturized and dewy. Dehydration can lead to serious exhaustion, so aim for the recommended eight glasses of water a day.

2. Keep your sleep schedule consistent. If you go to bed and wake up at random, erratic and unpredictable hours, it can seriously throw your body off and lead to exhaustion and low energy. Close your eyes at the same time every night, and rise from your bed at the same time every morning. Maintaining consistent meal and fitness times can also help you fight fatigue.

3. Relax yourself and eliminate stress. Emotional stress can be detrimental to energy levels, and leave you feeling worn out and drowsy. Calm your body and mind with deep-breathing exercises, yoga, self-hypnosis, tai chi and/or meditation, all of which can ease tension and offset exhaustion.

4. Eat well. To feel energetic, healthy, alert and well-rested, it's crucial to eat properly. Follow a diet that's full of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, proteins and carbohydrates. Apart from simply eating the right foods, make sure to eat often. Keep your meal portions small and eat roughly six times a day to maintain your energy. Eating frequently provides your brain with consistent streams of energy. And stay away from excessive amounts of caffeine, which can cause nighttime sleeplessness.

5. Laugh more. It's all too common for people to feel so overwhelmed by life's stresses and problems that they forget to enjoy themselves and have fun. Forget your problems (at least temporarily) by having a hearty and authentic laugh, which can greatly increase your energy levels and help you remain fatigue-free. Watch a funny movie. Go to a comedy club. Have lunch with a friend who's always had a wacky sense of humor.

6. Move your body. Being sedentary and sitting down all day (whether on a couch watching television or at your desk at work) can keep you feeling lethargic and exhausted. Moving around can raise your energy levels and increase the "feel good" hormone (serotonin) within your brain, improving your overall mood. Take regular walks outside or go the extra mile and start working out regularly at a gym.
