Glaucoma In Dogs Homeophatic Remedies

Canine glaucoma can be painful.

Glaucoma is a condition in which the fluid of the eye does not drain fast enough and results in increased eye pressure. This high pressure in the eyes can cause optic nerve damage and if left untreated will result in blindness. Although glaucoma medication does not always work as well for dogs as it does humans, consult with your veterinarian before administering homeopathic treatments for canine glaucoma; it could cost your dog his vision if not treated properly.

Rosemary

Rosemary is an aromatic perennial shrub that has been proven to have many uses. It helps to stimulate the brain and memory, along with the circulatory system. Rosemary has strong anti-inflammatory properties and is a great pain reliever as well as aiding in calming the nerves and reducing tension.

Rutin

Rutin is found in buckwheat seeds, rinds and citrus fruits. It is used as an anti-inflammatory and is used to deter neuropathy and retinopathy along with varicose veins and inflammatory bowel disease. When given Rutin three times a day it can aid in reducing both pain and pressure inside the eye.

Eyebright Herb

Eyebright herb also known as Euphrasia officinalis is used internally and is much more effective and safer than commercial eye drops that you can buy over the counter. It contains glycosides, resins, tannins and phenolic acid. It is used as an anti-inflammatory, astringent, anticatarrhal and expectorant and can effectively tighten the mucous membranes causing less pressure in the eyes.

Bilberry

Bilberry is a perennial shrub found in the damp woodlands and has been used as a medicinal herb since the sixteenth century. It contains flavonoids and anthocyanin, which helps to stop capillary weakness. It contains vitamins C and A, which help to prevent damage to the eye. Bilberry reduces inner eye pressure and contains nutrients that nourish the eyes.

Ginkgo

Ginkgo can be used in conjunction with Bilberry to treat Glaucoma. It is made of flavonoids and terpine lactones and is used as an anti-coagulant, antioxidant and improves blood circulation. Ginkgo strengthens the nervous system by improving blood circulation and increasing the flow of blood to the brain. It can protect dogs from some degenerative diseases as well.
