Candle Creations Candle Maker Machine Instructions

Candles add warmth and light to a home.

Candle making is a relaxing and unique craft that allows you to create a useable item. The Candle Creations candle maker is a compact machine that allows you to make candles in your home without a mess. The initial kit comes with everything you need to get started to make your own candles. The included polycarbonate mold creates a pillar candle. You can also use chunks of old candles to create a custom designed candle.

Instructions

1. Assemble the Candle Maker machine. Insert the top of the machine's legs into the underside of the hopper. Insert the bottom of the legs into the base of the machine. The legs will snap when they are fully in place. Gently pull on the legs to make sure they are firmly in place.

2. Place newspaper or cardboard over a flat work surface. This will protect your work surface from wax drippings which will damage the surface. The area should be near an electrical outlet.

3. Set the candle machine on your work surface. Make sure the machine is not close to the edge of the surface.

4. Insert the plug into an electrical outlet. Make sure the power cord does not dangle over the edge of the work surface.

5. Insert one end of the candle wick into the base of the mold. Thread the wick through the mold bringing it up through the top of the mold. Leave at least three inches of wick protruding from each side of the mold.

6. Insert the small rubber stopper into the small hole at the end of the mold. The stopper prevents hot wax from escaping from the mold. Pull the wick taut from the top of the mold to make sure the stopper is securely in place.

7. Lay the wick holder across the top of the candle mold in the pre-made grooves. Tie the wick to the wick holder making sure it is as tight as possible.

8. Grasp the front part of the spring loaded mechanism located on the base of the candle maker. Pull the mechanism forward. Angle the provided candle mold toward the valve under the hopper and fit it between the brackets of the mechanism.

9. Turn the wax flow valve to the closed position. When in the closed position the arrow on the front of the knob will be horizontal. Lift the lid of the machine and fill the hopper to the fill line with wax granules or small pieces of previously used candles.

10. Close the lid of the hopper and slide the lid lock latch all the way to the left. Turn the temperature control knob all the way to the right. This will set the machine to the highest possible temperature of 240 degrees Fahrenheit.

11. Allow the wax to melt for five minutes.

12. Slide the lock latch to the right and lift the lid of the hopper. Use a wooden spoon or skewer to stir the wax using a slow circular motion. Close and lock the lid.

13. Allow the wax to heat for five minutes. The wax will be completely liquid when it is ready to be poured into the mold. You may need to add three to five more minutes to the total time if the wax is not in a liquid state.

14. Turn the flow valve to the right. A small stream of wax will slowly begin to pour from the valve. Fill the mold leaving one-quarter of the mold empty. If you did not initially heat enough wax you can add more wax using the same heating process as Steps 9 through 13.

15. Turn the temperature knob off. Allow the candle to cool in the mold holder for 20 minutes.

16. Lift the mold out of the spring loaded mechanism using a pot holder to protect your hands. Use slow, steady motions as you are moving the mold to prevent the wax from spilling. Set the mold on a flat, heat-resistant surface that is out of reach of children and pets.

17.Allow the mold to cool for 30 minutes. Inspect the candle in the mold. If the center of the mold is beginning to cave in you will need to perform a second pouring. Poke several holes in the center of the candle near the wick. Insert the mold back into the spring loaded mechanism. Add an additional layer of wax using Steps 9 through 13.

18. Cool the mold overnight to allow the wax to completely set.

19. Remove the rubber stopper from the end of the candle mold. Pull the wick holder gently to loosen the candle from the mold.

20. Remove the wick holder from the wick. Trim the wick close to the wax at the bottom of the candle and leave 1/2 inch of wick at the top of the candle.

Tips Warnings

A fire extinguisher must be used to extinguish fires caused by the machine.
