Recipes For Mixing Fragrance Oils

Mixing fragrance oils can create unique and custom scents for a variety of applications such as soaps, perfumes and other cosmetic products. The kind of scent you create depends on the recipe you use for mixing the fragrance oils. Many commercial perfumes are made from several complex recipes.

Tools

Mixing fragrance oil requires tools such as disposable pipettes, scent testing strips, carrier oil, alcohol base and fragrance oils. You also need glass vials for your oil creations, as well as bottles for scented body oils and perfumes. Pipettes and testing strips are absolutely necessary because they prevent wasteful use of expensive oils. Each oil is to be used in its own pipette and individually mixed in a container. Dip the testing strip into the oil and let it dry for 20 seconds to smell the product of the mixed scents.

Masculine Scent Recipe

Make a fragrant aftershave balm for a special man in your life by mixing five fragrant and essential oils with a scentless base lotion. Base lotions can be found in many craft stores among the soap-making supplies and provide a way for you to focus your creativity on crafting scents instead of making lotion. Combine 5 drops of blue cedar essential oil, 2 drops of black pine essential oil, 3 drops of sweet basil fragrance oil, 2 drops of baby powder fragrance oil and 1 drop of rosemary fragrance oil. Use a separate pipette for each oil, combining them in a saucer or glass bowl. Use a fresh pipette to transfer the mixture into a 6 oz. bottle of lotion base. Shake it thoroughly, and then breathe in the delightfully masculine fragrance.

Classy and Timeless

Mix several fragrance oils into an alcohol perfume base to create your own signature spray. Use 2 oz. of base. Create a classy scent that can be worn for any occasion, whether you're dressing up or lounging around the house. In a glass dish, mix 17 drops of jasmine fragrance oil, 8 drops of baby oil fragrance, 6 drops of antique rose fragrance oil and 2 drops of ginger fragrance oil. This will create a very sensual and light scent with spicy undertones that will leave people sniffing the air in quizzical pleasure. Always make sure to use separate pipettes for each aromatic oil used.
