Treat Menstrual Cramps With Home Remedies

Treat Menstrual Cramps With Home Remedies

Most women have experienced menstrual cramps at least once, and many suffer abdominal and lower back pain with every monthly period. Even mild cramps can be very unpleasant, and more severe cramps can make it difficult to carry out our daily activities. Many women find that some basic home remedies can help to relieve the discomfort.

Instructions

1. Lie on your back in your shower, turn on the hot water, and target the stream of water on your abdominal area. The hot water will ease the pain and relax the muscles. If you have a shower massage, set it on a gentle massage.

2. Fill a sock with rice or beans. Sew the top closed and heat the sock in the microwave for about 2 minutes. Lie down and press the sock on painful areas, moving it to a different area every few minutes. You may find it more helpful to lie on your stomach and press the sock on your lower back.

3. Try putting some herbs in the sock along with the rice or beans. Valerian, pennyroyal and ginger can be especially helpful for easing cramps, and the aroma therapy will soothe and relax you.

4. Go for a walk or do some light exercises or stretching. Exercise will improve circulation to the painful areas and will reduce muscle tension.

5. Take a mineral bath. Add 1 cup of sea salt and 1 cup of baking soda to the warm water and soak for about 20 minutes.
