Treat Depression With Acupressure

Acupressure is an ancient healing technique which uses the natural energy meridians of the body to heal illness, and manage chronic conditions. Oftentimes symptoms of depression can be helped by relieving some of the symptoms. Depressed mood, lack of energy, insomnia, and anxiety can be helped by acupressure.

Instructions

1. Evaluate the cause of depression. If depression is caused by stress, or a medical condition, use the pressure points for those conditions as well as the points for depression.

2. Measure 1 palm width from the bottom of your kneecap. Toward the outside of your leg, you will find a small sunken spot between the muscle and shinbone. Apply steady, even pressure to this spot for several seconds, or as long as you can handle. This is the general point for treating depression.

3. Apply pressure to the point where the pinky finger and wrist meet. Maintain pressure for as long as you can stand it. This point is good for anxiety that is sometimes caused by depression.

4. Apply pressure at the center of your chest, right under your breast bone. This pressure point helps increase overall energy and battles the fatigue which often accompanies depression.

5. Stimulate energy production by applying steady pressure approximately 1 palm width under the belly button.

6. Overcome sleep problems associated with depression by applying pressure to the big toe behind, and a bit to the side of the toe nail, on the side close to the second toe.

7. Conquer fear associated with depression by using the pressure point where your middle finger and wrist meet. This point is about 2 thumb widths below the wrist bone.
