Home Remedies For Bad Breath

Bad breath can ruin any social experience and be very embarrassing. Therefore, it is always a good idea to take care of your teeth to make sure your breath is as fresh as possible. The following are some home remedies that can be used when you just can't control bad breath, which may be caused by bacteria or simply neglect.

Brushing Teeth

The best way to treat bad breath is to brush your teeth after every meal. Doing so will kill off any bacteria that may have made their way into your mouth and prevent any from forming on food that may get stuck in your teeth.

Saltwater

Mix about 2 tablespoons of salt in an 8-ounce glass of warm water. Gargle the mixture at least twice a day to kill bacteria in your mouth that cause bad breath.

Lemon Water

Squeeze the juice of one lemon into an 8-ounce glass of water. Just like salt water, gargle this mixture at least twice a day. The antibacterial compounds in the lemon will get rid of bacteria and leave your breath smelling lemony fresh.

Mint Leaves

One of the easiest ways to freshen breath while you are on the go is to chew on mint leaves. After only a few minutes, your breath will be temporarily fresh, but remember to brush your teeth still when you have a chance.

Zinc

Make sure to eat foods that are high in zinc if you have bad breath regularly. This will keep the anaerobic bacteria in your mouth in check and get rid of bad breath. Some examples of foods that are high in zinc include oysters, lean beef and sesame seeds.
