Take Control Of Your Life

Life seemed simple when you were young, didn't it? And you're not quite sure how things got to this point; your life being totally out of control. But somewhere along the line it happened and now you are wondering get it back. Marriage, the job, kids, bills, errands, baseball practice, dance recital, conference meetings, dinner, laundry, dishes; the list goes on and on. This overwhelming feeling is a very common one, as there seems to be more and more that needs to be done for everyone. Finding a way to take back control of your life is an essential step for your health, your love life, your family and yourself. Doing this is not easy, but a good start is trying the steps you'll find here.

Instructions

1. The first thing you need to do is ask yourself who is in control of your life. If you are not in control, someone else is. Be honest with your answer.

2. Now that you know who is in control of your life, find ways to take that control back. Most likely your life is being controlled by your family's needs and demands. Or maybe the control is in the hands of family and the job. It might just be the job that is making your life miserable. Now that you have realized who or what is controlling you, you must decide on the best way to get that control back.

3. Think baby steps. If your children are young your goal will be much easier to achieve. Find a sitter at least once a week and take some time for yourself. If the kids are older you are going to have to take small steps in regaining control. Start with meals. If they are old enough to fend for themselves take a couple days a week and make them do so. This includes the husband. After all, he is a grown man. You are his wife, not his mother. What you do with the time you would normally be cooking and washing dishes is up to you, but I strongly suggest you let the family know it is your time and you are not only going to take that time, you are also going to keep it. If it is the job that you are taking home, leave it at work. Once you leave the office or the factory, do not talk about work, do not think about work and do not do any more work at home.

4. Be prepared for complaints, but don't argue. You've made your statement, now stick to your guns. You'll find the complaints will dwindle with time, especially if you ignore them. You'll also find yourself feeling better as time goes on, mentally, emotionally and physically.

5. Now that the family, or the boss, is getting used to the idea of you're not being at their beck and call, think of something you want to do and make it happen. Rather than taking a few hours, take a whole day or evening and do whatever it is that you want. You'll find that the word wealth comes in many forms when you take control of your life and you once again live.
