Led Light Treatments

LED light is light produced by light-emitting diodes, as opposed to conventional light, which is produced through incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. LED light is bright, long lasting, durable and inexpensive, and is used in flashlights, home lighting, vehicles and other applications. LED light has also come to be known as a method of medical treatment, since LED light can be used at specific wavelengths to create certain spectrums of light that treat a wide variety of skin and other conditions that ail people. There are a number of types of LED light treatments, as well as a number of different conditions that LED light treatment can help to alleviate or cure.

Light Therapy

One method of LED light therapy uses arrays of LED lights selected because they operate at a certain wavelength or color band. Much like laser therapy, these LED treatments are very specifically targeted at a certain bandwidth of light to treat a certain disorder or condition. The bandwidth of the light is very important, as a minor variation in bandwidth can lead to the treatment being ineffective or completely useless.

Heat Lamps

Heat lamps are another method of LED light treatment. While they do not use light-emitting diodes, heat lamps use some of the same spectrums of light that LED lamps can produce. In the past, it was believed that the heat from the heat lamps, which is produced by creating infrared light at the far end of the color spectrum, was what produced the benefit of heat lamp therapies. It has since come to light, so to speak, that the high-frequency light produced is more effective than the heat that is produced by the infrared.

Halogen Light

LED halogen bulbs produce a light that is very similar to the wavelength of sunlight. This means that these lights are useful for helping people to produce vitamin D, which is produced when the body is exposed to sunlight, as well as for helping to treat seasonal depression and other sunlight deprivation-related disorders.

In-Home Lighting

LED lights are commonly used in home light treatments as well. One use for LED light treatments is as a form of lighting inside of glass cabinets. Unlike top lights, which are generally effective only if the shelves are glass, LED lights are small and versatile enough to be almost invisible when attached to the side of cabinets, allowing for better lighting of the interior space. LED rope lights are also used in crown molding to create lighted crown molding.
