Types Of Back Braces For Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a skeletal disorder that is characterized by one or more lateral curves of the spine. For moderate cases of scoliosis, the most common treatment is bracing.

Milwaukee Brace

The Milwaukee Brace is one that encases the entire torso and also includes a neck ring that is attached by a bar. A Milwaukee brace is generally worn at all times except when showering.

Boston Brace

A Boston brace is prescribed for thoracic or lumbar curves. It is made up of custom molded plastic with straps to adjust for fit and is usually worn at all times.

Charleston Brace

A Charleston Brace, or a 'bending brace', is made of molded plastic but differs from a Boston brace in that it is fitted to the child while he bends to the side. This type of brace is worn only at night.

Spinecor

The Spinecor brace is a flexible brace that is made up of a system of custom-fitted elastic straps and allows for completely normal movement.

Providence Brace

The Providence Brace is a low-profile plastic molded brace that is worn only at night and provides similar correction to daytime braces for mild to moderate curvature.
