Clean Vaporizers
Vaporizers add moisture to a dry room and ease congestion due to a cold or other ailment. The fact that you are directly breathing the vapors makes it especially important to keep your vaporizer clean from bacteria and mineral build-up. Here are a few simple steps you can take to keep your vaporizer clean.
Instructions
1. Unplug the vaporizer and let it cool. Lift the top steam unit up and out of the reservoir and let as much water drip back into the reservoir as possible.
2. Empty all the water from the reservoir. You will have to shake it while upside down from side to side to get the last bit of water out. Wipe any remaining water and black particles out with a soft, dry cloth.
3. Soak the top steam unit in 4 inches of white vinegar for 10 minutes. You can use an empty 28-oz. coffee container or a bowl that is large enough to fit the unit. Use one part vinegar to one part water if your vinegar supply is limited.
4. Remove the steam unit from the vinegar after 10 minutes and let it drain. Put your finger over the bottom drain hole and pour water through the top of the unit where the steam comes out. Shake the unit vigorously for several seconds then let the water drain out the bottom. Do this again until there are no more black particles coming out of the bottom drain hole. Use cotton swabs to further clean black residue from the drain hole.
5. Clean the vaporizer reservoir by filling it up with water and 1 tsp. of bleach per gallon of water. Let the water/bleach mixture soak for 20 minutes. Dump the water out after 20 minutes and rinse several times with plain water until you no longer smell bleach in the reservoir.
