Sending a fax using a fax machine follows the same dialing procedure to connect as a telephone. The sequence for international dialing is: [Home Access Code] + [International Country Code] + [County or Area Code] + [Phone Number].
Instructions
1. Load documents into your fax machine according to manufacturer's instructions.
2. Make sure you have your international code to dial out of your country to another country. A list of IDD (International Direct Dialing) Prefixes is available on the Internet. If dialing from a business, you may also need a code to access an outside line with international dialing privileges (referred to as [OPTIONAL Bus-Intl]).
3. Using the dial pad on the fax machine, type the following sequence of numbers.
[OPTIONAL Bus-Intl] + [Home Access Code] + [International Country Code] + [County or Area Code] + [Phone Number]
4. Dial from, for example, the U.S. to the U.K. from a home fax machine by using the following sequence: 011445212345. 011 is the Home Access Code in the U.S. to dial to another country; 44 is the Country Code for the U.K.; 52 is the area code and 12345 is the telephone number connected to the recipient's fax machine.
5. Dial from, for example, the U.S. to the U.K. from a business fax machine and you may require the following sequence: 99011445212345. 99 is the company's code for an outside line that has international dialing access; 011 is the Home Access Code in the U.S. to dial to another country; 44 is the Country Code for the U.K.; 52 is the area code and 12345 is the telephone number connected to the recipient's fax machine.
6. Press the Start button to send the fax. You may hear a regular series of sounds from your fax machine as the recipient's phone line rings. The sound will change when fax machines connect. If the recipient's fax machine doesn't answer, your fax machine may automatically retry the transmission (based on default settings).
