The appearance of cellulite is caused by an underlying layer of fatty tissue and skin that has a weak fibrous tissue that allows the fat cells to emerge. Cellulite is most known for appearing on the back of the thigh, but it is often visible on the front of the thigh, buttocks, arms and stomach as well.
Laser
Treatment with laser is generally effective. The lasers use radio frequency and infrared to break up fatty deposits. To successfully treat the cellulite, a series of treatments is needed twice a week. Cellulite may return after a period of 6 months and treatment may need to be repeated.
Creams
Creams that contain aminophylline and theopylline may help reduce the appearance of cellulite by helping to reduce stores of fat. These creams are best applied with a deep tissue massage to help to break up fatty deposits. They are most effective for mild cellulite.
Healthy Diet
A diet that includes raw vegetables and fruit is the most important factor in reducing cellulite. Choose lean meat and whole grains to decrease fat stores. Drink 64 ounces of water or more daily to help flush fat.
