Make Cream Ointment

Keep your hands feeling smooth with a homemade cream ointment.

Make your own cream ointment at home. Many commercial ointments contain chemicals and preservatives that have no purpose in soothing and healing skin. Homemade cream ointments contain antiseptic and healing properties that help soothe chapped hands, tender feet and chafes. The ointments contain all-natural ingredients and you can customize them with various oils to suit your needs and preferences. Once you make your own ointment cream, simply store it in an airtight container to use again for up to three months.

Instructions

Plain Cream Ointment

1. Place 1/2 oz. beeswax and the vegetable oil in a double boiler. You can make a double boiler by filling a large pot with water and placing a smaller pot inside the larger one.

2. Sit the double boiler over medium-low heat. Stir the beeswax and vegetable oil until the wax melts completely.

3. Remove the small saucepan from the large one. Whisk the ointment until it cools down to at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Pour the ointment into an airtight container.
