Stop A Cough Naturally

We have, at one time or another had a nagging cough that kept hanging on into the late hours of the evening. Night time comes and we just have to stop that cough so we can rest. I learned these remedies through a friend and she said I could share them with you.

Instructions

1. Naturally stopping a cough can be such a blessing when you want to sleep and feel better. Place some Vicks vapor-rub on the bottoms of both your feet. No need to rub it, just apply a thin coat on the entire soles of each foot.

2. Place a clean, white sock over the foot and leave the socks on overnight. The cough will subside for at least 4 to 6 hours so you can sleep. There will be no harmful, strong drugs with side effects, so you can do this for children too. Check the label to be advised about the use for infants.

3. A warm cup of honey and lemon can bring mucous to the surface for you to expectorate it and the honey is soothing for the cough. Use 1/2 cup of hot water and add 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice from a fresh lemon and 1 teaspoon raw honey and mix. Sip or drink it like you would a tea. This cannot be given safely to infants because of the raw honey. Check with your health care professional before giving this to toddlers.

4. A solution of Salt mixed in a glass of warm water and gargled will ease the coughing and soothe the sore throats too. Use traditional table salt either iodized or non. Measure 1 teaspoon salt to 1/2 cup of tepid water. People watching sodium intake need to consult with their doctors before using this method since salt could be absorbed and cause unusual absorption through the membranes of the mouth and throat.
