Herbal Sinus Remedies

Problems with sinuses can leave you miserable. Symptoms include stuffy nose, congestion, sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, headache and trouble breathing through the nose. There are prescription medications and over-the-counter medications for sinus infections, but many people have come to rely on herbal remedies to ease their symptoms. Here are some herbal remedies which can be tried to treat sinus infections.


Licorice








Licorice is used to treat inflammation and helps boost the immune system. There are two kinds of licorice capsules, so be sure to choose the ones that help boost the immune system and not those that help with ulcers.


Eucalyptus


Eucalyptus is a fragrant herbal remedy to help soothe sore throats. It also has antiseptic properties which can help shrink the swollen sinus passages. Eucalyptus is available in throat lozenges and teas.


Peppermint


Peppermint has an anti-inflammatory property which helps calm the mucous membrane. You can drink peppermint tea or steep the tea and breathe in the scent to help with your breathing.


Ginger


Ginger helps relieve headaches and other pain caused by sinuses. Take ginger in capsule form for best results.


Lemon Balm


Lemon Balm is used to help fight off viruses and bacteria. Lemon Balm can be used as a gargle or drank as a tea to help relieve sinus problems.
