Relieve A Jammed Hip Joint

How Do I Relieve a Jammed Hip Joint?

Age, illness and injury are all sources of irritation surrounding the joint of your hip. If the irritation reaches extreme levels, the joint will become inflamed and very painful. It will feel as though the actual joint is jammed or locked up. You will be able to move your hip, but stiffly and with immense pain. There are a few things you can do to relieve this feeling almost instantly.

Instructions

1. Stop performing the action that caused the hip to jam in the first place. This may be vigorous walking, stretching exercises or even climbing stairs.

2. Fill a disposable coffee cup with water and freeze it. The cup should be filled to the very top edge.

3. Cut off a section of the cup from around the opening. This should make the top edge of the ice inside visible.

4. Hold the cup upside down so the ice is facing down and place it straight onto your hip.

5. Move the ice cup around your hip over the painful areas, applying light pressure. Do this for five minutes and stop. If you wish, repeat once your hip has warmed up again.

6. Lie on the hip that isn't jammed when you are going to sleep and lean forward slightly so you don't have pressure on your hips. You can use a pillow between your legs and under your stomach to help support your body in a comfortable position.
