Antiwrinkle Cures

Wrinkles are a natural component of the aging process, but taking some measures may reduce them.

Overexposure to sun can form and deepen wrinkles on the skin. Environmental pollution, stress and excessive weight loss are causes of dry, rough and wrinkled skin, as well. Wrinkles are a part of the process of aging, but premature wrinkles can occur. Many remedies are available to prevent the increase and formation of wrinkles.

Nutrition

An effective way to cure wrinkles is to increase the intake of antioxidant food in your diet. This includes olives, legumes, nuts, fish oil, olive oil, whole grain cereals, lean meat, milk, seafood, yogurt and food with monounsaturated fat. Antioxidant fruits and vegetables include apples, cherries, prunes, spinach, onions, garlic, eggplant, asparagus, celery, leeks, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, broccoli and plums. Avoid the following foods: soft drinks, processed meat, potatoes, butter, margarine, pastries, cakes and ice cream.

Supplements

Some antioxidant supplements reduce the skin's elasticity and are effective in reducing wrinkles. Vitamin A is an antioxidant that nourishes the fat layer underneath the skin and prevents skin damage. If you have a vitamin A deficiency, the skin will become rough, dry and wrinkly. Vitamin C deficiency can cause wrinkles, as well. Taking 200 mg to 500 mg of vitamin C daily can help. Alpha lipoic acid prevents the cross-linking fibers that lead to wrinkles. A daily dose of 50 mg to 100 mg of alpha lipoic acid is recommended.

Home Remedies

Massage wrinkle-prone skin every night with virgin coconut oil mixed with few drops of vitamin E oil for visible results within a week. Since egg whites contain vitamins, they help to nourish and tighten the skin. Apply the egg whites daily to wrinkle-prone areas. You can also apply turmeric and sugarcane juice paste daily. Another treatment for wrinkles is to scrub the skin every day with pineapple core and rinse it after 10 to 15 minutes.

Sleeping and Smoking Habits

Develop the habit of sleeping on your back to prevent wrinkles. Wrinkles and a diagonal crease on your forehead are formed when you sleep on your belly, with your face on the pillow. If you smoke, quitting can benefit your skin. Smoking decreases facial blood circulation, which results in wrinkles and premature lines.
