Detoxing means to get rid of toxins in your body from things such as the food that we eat and the air that we breathe. Food may be contaminated with pesticides, and air pollution is a major cause of toxins in our body. Luckily, there are many things that you can do at home to detox your body.
Diet
One of the most popular ways to detox is through dieting. A good detox diet usually eliminates meat and includes fiber, fruits, vegetables and plenty of water. These diets are intended to be done on a short-term basis only, and it is always important to consult your doctor before starting one. In addition, detox diets are not recommended for adolescents because they could deprive them of many foods they need for proper nutrition.
Body Wrap
Body wraps can improve your body's tone and tighten and enhance the texture of your skin, and they're very simple to create at home using a mixture of clay, sea salts and essential oils such as lavender, lemongrass or olive oil. You can also add herbs, such as ground basil, rose-petal powder or rosehip powder, to the mixture.
Boil the ingredients in water until they are completely dissolved, and when the mixture cools rub it all over your body and wrap yourself in clean towels or sheets. Allow it to work for 45 minutes to an hour, then rinse off.
Epsom Salt Bath
Epsom salt is popularly used in baths, as well as foot soaks to soothe sore feet. It is absorbed through the skin in a bath and helps remove toxins from the body.
Add one cup of Epsom salt and some unprocessed sea salt to a bathtub that is filling with hot water. Immerse yourself in the bath for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse off and and wrap yourself in a towel. Drink plenty of liquids to replenish any fluids you may have lost.
Limit this to once a week to avoid Epsom salt's drying effects, but those with high blood pressure, heart or kidney problems, diabetes, or who feel tired and weak should refrain from taking an Epsom salt bath.
