Install an air intake kit at home using basic tools.
An air intake kit increases air flow to your engine, which helps increase air-to-gas ratio. With higher, cooler air flow, the engine is able to use the combustion force of gasoline much more efficiently. People install an air intake kit to make the engine look better and improve engine performance. An air intake kit helps to improve acceleration, torque and mileage. You can install an air intake kit yourself at home with some basic tools.
Instructions
1. Unclasp the ring ties on the throttle body by loosening the screw with a flat-head screwdriver. Loosen the factory air duct tube from the throttle body.
2. Remove the intake tube from the stock air box by unclasping the ring ties. If the mass air flow unit is inside the air box, proceed to Step 3. If it isn't, proceed to Step 4.
3. Remove the screws and the clasps holding the stock air box together by detaching them with a screwdriver. Remove the mass air flow unit by detaching the screws securing it in place, using the appropriate screwdriver. Unplug the mass air flow unit from the adapter.
4. Remove the mass air flow unit from the intake tube by using the appropriate screwdriver to detach the screws holding the unit in place. Unplug the unit from the adapter.
5. Place the new air intake tube with the throttle body end of the tube connected and clamped to the throttle body. Position the opposite end of the intake tube into the area of the air box. Secure the intake tube as needed with ring ties.
6. Insert the mass air flow unit into the intake tube in the designated mass air flow slot. Position the unit in the right direction by following the direction of the arrow on the bottom of the unit. Insert the mass air flow unit into the mass air flow adapter.
7. Fit the air filter on the end of the intake tube and secure in place. Place a ring tie around the air filter hose that fits on the intake tube. Secure the ring tie in place by tightening the screws holding the ring tie. Position the filter away from the engine and other moving parts.
