Diy Inversion Table

Building an inversion table can make exercise at home more enjoyable.

A custom-built inversion table offers the convenience of exercising at home and is more cost-effective than gym membership or purchasing a pre-made model. While experience in metalworking and sewing is an advantage, anyone with the correct equipment and willingness to learn can construct an inversion table tailored to fit their specific height and weight. Inversion tables also minimize back pain and encourage proper spine alignment by stretching the spine and back muscles, which can even add to one's height.

Instructions

1. Create two identical supports for the table by using a tubing bender to shape rigid conduit into triangles with a base of 3 feet and a height of 5 feet. Cut excess tubing from the joins with a hacksaw and solder the joins together. Construct a 4-foot-by-30-inch backrest frame using the same process of bending and soldering the rigid conduit into a rectangular support. Drill a hole in the pinnacle of each triangle and set the conduit frames aside.

2. Cut the square steel tubing into three sections with lengths of 36 inches, 16 inches, and 1 1/2 inches. Create a T-shape by centering the 16-inch length perpendicular to the longer piece and weld in place. This tubing will serve as the main frame and footrest. Use the 1 1/2-inch section as the pivot hub. Center the 1 1/2-inch tubing on the opposite end of the longest section and weld the sections together.

3. Insert 3/8-inch threaded rod into the pivot hub and place a nylon washer on each end of the rod. Insert the ends of the rod into the holes in the apex of each triangle support. Secure the main frame between the supports with 3/8-inch hex head nuts and lock washers. Remove excess threaded rod using a hacksaw.

4. Rest the backrest frame on a flat surface and line it up with the upper end of the main frame. Solder the lower end of the backrest to the main frame near the midpoint and the sides of the backrest to the pivot hub.

5. Trim canvas fabric to cover the backrest, leaving enough excess material to secure all four sides underneath the frame. Stitch in place with nylon thread. Fasten a nylon strap around the main frame near the footrest.
