Make A Tea Tree Oil Acne Remedy

Tea Tree Oil make great acne treatments

Tea tree oil is a great natural alternative to using chemical based acne treatments. In fact, in studies tea tree oil is proven to have fewer side effects than products containing benzoyl peroxide. While there are many acne treatments in stores that use tea tree oil, they are expensive and often don't use the right amount. Making your own tea tree oil acne remedy is simple, inexpensive, and ensures results.

Instructions

1. Purchase tea tree oil at a food co-op or pharmacy. A vial of tea tree oil usually costs between $8 and $10 dollars and will provide a month or more of acne treatments.

2. Dilute the tea tree oil into a 5% acne fighting solution. For example, 1 teaspoon tea tree oil to 9 teaspoons of water. If you have sensitive skin, use ½ teaspoon of tea tree oil to 10 teaspoons of water.

3. Open your pores with steam by taking a hot shower or boil water and trap the steam with a towel over your head. Opening the pores allows the tea tree oil to penetrate deep into your skin and kill the bacteria that causes acne.

4. Using a tissue or cotton ball, apply the tea tree oil as a skin care astringent on your face.

5. Follow with a glycolic acid product for exfoliation which will give skin clarity. Look for a product that contains 5% glycolic acid, although with time you can work up to a stronger concentration.
