Deal With Having Bad Teeth

If eyes are the windows to the soul, your smile is the window to your personality. Here's deal with having a less than stellar set of teeth, even if they are really bad.

Instructions

1. See a dentist. This might seem very basic, but some people have bad teeth because they do not visit the dentist regularly due to fear or lack of financial means to pay for dental care. There are dentists who specialize in treating those with excessive fear of the dentist, either with medicines to help you relax or with music or videos to take your mind off the dental work. If you do not have dental insurance and cannot pay for your appointment, check out free clinics it the area, or a dental school where they might see you for free or a reduced rate.

2. Brush your teeth diligently. Even if you are suffering from decay or extremely crooked teeth, keeping them clean is a must. Decayed teeth often leave you with foul breath, so it is important to keep your mouth as clean as possible. Brush several times a day and use mints or sugarless gum to avoid odors from your bad teeth. If your teeth are extremely crooked, there are more places for plaque to hide, so thorough brushing is key.

3. Learn to smile with your mouth closed. You need not flash a big toothy grin to convey your personality. If you are still waiting to get your teeth fixed, don't allow your embarrassment prevent you from enjoying yourself in groups. Smile genuinely without exposing your teeth for all to see. Try not to cover your face with your hands as you speak or smile, however. This only draws attention to your problem area.

4. Accept that nobody is perfect. Everyone has a flaw in their appearance that they wish were different. If your flaw is your bad teeth, try to accept that and move on.
