Triphala Herbs For Hair

Healthy hair sometimes requires a little assistance.

Triphala consists of three herbs known as amalaki, haritaki and bibhitaki. Used together, these three herbs make an excellent natural treatment for problem hair. They work by assisting the body in its toxin removal process---an excellent path to overall good health. Triphala also works through its antibiotic properties and its ability to repair cellular structure.

Amalaki

Amalaki, commonly known as "Indian gooseberry," is extremely high in vitamin C. The herb's antioxidant nature means it can help repair tissues and bone while promoting immunity. Amalaki works at fixing broken cell walls, including the cells that make up hair. In this way, using this herb can lead to stronger hair that is less likely to break.

Haritaki

This natural antibiotic and fungicide helps strengthen hair by removing toxins that could infect the follicle and cause the hair root to weaken and fall out of the scalp. Haritaki can also help reduce the itching associated with dandruff and other scalp disorders. The less the scalp itches, the less you are inclined to scratch it, which gives the skin a chance to heal.

Bibhitaki

This herb helps cleanse the body of toxins, some of which can emerge from the pores of the scalp. These toxins can build up, causing damage to the hair root if left untreated. A laxative, this herb can help cleanse the entire body of toxins and can also soothe and heat the scalp when rubbed onto the skin.
