Attend Weight Watchers Meetings

Weight Watchers meetings are an essential tool in the process of losing weight and keeping it off. The support from fellow members and the instruction of the Weight Watchers leader will help you to stay on track and lose weight consistently. Attending meetings weekly is a crucial part of staying dedicated in your weight-loss journey.

Instructions

1. Find a location near or in your home town. You can find a local meeting by checking the Weight Watchers website. On the website you will find the “Visit a meeting” link. Click on the link and proceed by entering the zip code of the area you are trying to attend a meeting in and clicking “Find.” If you are only visiting the area and do not know the zip code you can also search using the name of the city and state by clicking the “City & State” tab. Once your have searched for a local meeting, the website will list the five closest choices in your area. You can then decide which meeting you would like to attend.

2. Check the meeting times. Each different Weight Watchers leader has the ability to choose their meeting times. Depending on the size of the area you are attending, there may also be several meetings a week or even multiple meetings a day. The leaders do their best to facilitate the Weight Watchers Members schedules and also to help by leveling the attendance to their meetings, giving everyone the opportunity to attend.

3. Go to the meeting location. Once you have decided the best location for you and checked the meeting times, arrive 30 minutes to an hour before the meeting begins. You will often find long lines to wait in, so be prepared. Getting to the meeting early enough will keep you from missing out on any of the class.

4. Pick up your personal folder and pay your dues. As you walk in the door, you will notice a box that is holding white folders with a different name listed on each one. Sort through the pile and find your folder before you attempt to pay. The secretary will need your folder and your take-home booklet to write down the fact that you are paying and how much. If you pay in advance you will not have to stand in line every week. You can choose to pay any number of weeks in advance to save you some time. Weight Watchers also offers early payment plans that give you discounts on weekly attendance.

5. Get weighed. After you have paid your dues, you will need to step on the scale. Most Weight Watchers meetings have separate lines for paying and getting weighed. When you reach the front of the line, you will need to hand the Weight Watchers associate your folder and your booklet that lists your weight and the dates you’ve attended. The associate will then calculate your weight loss and mark it in your paperwork.

6. Listen to the leader’s weekly lesson. Once the class begins, all of the members sit in seats around tables or in rows, depending on the meeting's location, and listen to the leader instruct them on the ins and outs of following the program. During the meeting, people will receive incentive awards for weight loss accomplishments and also share stories about their week and how they got through certain weight loss situations. If you have any questions about following the Weight Watchers program, you can ask the leader for help and she will also have other attending members give ideas on how they have dealt with the same issues.
