Make An Apothecary Jar Into A Lamp

Turn an ordinary jar into an extraordinary lamp.

Create a charming, one-of-a-kind lamp that is sure to be the spotlight of a room with an apothecary jar. There are many styles and sizes of apothecary jars available, enabling you to craft a distinctive creation that suits your taste. With patience and a few tools, you can craft a lamp that will add a rustic, eye-catching glow to any room.

Instructions

1. Remove the lid from the apothecary jar. Clean and dry the jar and the lid. Set the lid aside.

2. Locate a point on the back of the jar, near the bottom, to drill a hole in. Cut a piece of masking tape and set it over the location.

3. Attach a 1/2-inch glass drill bit to a drill. Slowly drill a hole through the masking tape into the jar.

4. Remove the tape from the jar. Wash the jar to remove glass shavings. Completely dry the jar.

5. Run a string of holiday mini-lights through the hole in the back of the jar. If you're using a light string with male-to-female plugs, fold the string in half and carefully feed the loop into the hole. Place all of the lights in the jar, leaving both plugs hanging out of the hole. Adjust the lights through the opening on the top of the jar.

6. Replace the lid on the jar. Plug in the strand of lights.
