Use Maca Powder

The natives of Peru have grown and harvested maca root since approximately 1600 B.C. Maca root is believed to help improve stamina and endurance, increase fertility and promote overall physical well-being. Maca also is extremely nutritious and contains cancer-preventing antioxidants, as well as protein, fiber and calcium. People consume maca root in many forms, including a ground powder. Most people find that maca powder has a sweet flavor that blends well with all sorts of dishes. You can use maca powder in beverages or even add it to your favorite recipes to reap the many health benefits it offers.


Instructions


Maca Beverages


1. Mix 1 tsp. of maca powder with 2 cups of warm or cold water. Stir vigorously and then enjoy.


2. Make a cup of your favorite tea and add 1 tsp. of maca powder. Stir and add lemon to taste.


3. Prepare a cup of hot cocoa and add 1 tsp. of maca powder. Stir and drink on cold nights.


4. Pour a glass of milk and stir in 1 tsp. of maca powder. Some people also like to add a small amount of sugar.


Maca Zucchini Bread


5. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.


6. Combine 1/2 cup maca powder, 2-1/2 cups of flour, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 tbsp. of baking soda, 1 tbsp. baking powder, 1 tbsp. of cinnamon and 1/2 tsp. of nutmeg in a large bowl. Add 3/4 cup of raisins and 1/2 cup of chopped nuts to the dry ingredients.


7. Beat 2 eggs in a separate bowl. Add 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of apple sauce, 1 tbsp. vanilla extract and 2 cups of grated zucchini. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until thoroughly combined.


8. Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan and pour in the bread batter.


9. Bake in the middle rack of the oven for 30 to 40 minutes. A knife inserted in the center of the bread should come out clean.








10. Allow to cool, then slice and enjoy.
