Lavender can be used in craft projects.
According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, lavender comes from the Latin word lavare, which means "to wash." This is fitting since lavender is often used in bath products. Lavender can be used at home to create various crafts. The two forms often used in craft making include dried lavender and lavender oil.
Instructions
Lavender Bath Salts
1. Pour 1 cup of Epsom salts and 1/2 cup of sea salt in a glass jar. Mix the two together.
2. Add 3 tbsp. of baking soda and 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Combine all of the ingredients.
3. Create a lavender color to mix with your bath salts by adding 6 drops of red food coloring and 3 drops of blue food coloring. Stir until all of the salts have turned lavender.
4. Label the glass jar, and decorate with a ribbon or bow. Place in the bathroom, or give away the lavender bath salts as a gift.
Lavender Potpourri
5. Place 1 cup of dried lavender, 1/4 cup of dried buttercups, 1/4 cup of dried carnations and 2 tbsp. of dried orris root powder in a glass jar. Toss the potpourri ingredients together.
6. Add 8 drops of lavender essential oil to increase the smell of lavender in the homemade potpourri.
7. Place a lid on the glass jar and set aside for four weeks to give the ingredients time to blend. Every three days, shake the contents of the jar lightly.
8. Decorate and label the glass jar before giving away as a gift. Transfer to a potpourri pot if using in your home.
