Lisinopril Cough Side Effects

Lisinopril is a drug used as a treatment for patients who suffer from congestive heart failure and high blood pressure. It is also administered to patients who have experienced a heart attack.


Common Side Effects


Common side effects of lisinopril include drowsiness, headache, cough, upset stomach, and mild itching or skin rash.


Severe Side Effects


Severe side effects of lisinopril include fainting, flu symptoms, chest pain and rapid weight gain. Seek medical attention immediately if any of these symptoms occur.








Interactions


Patients taking the following drugs may require an altered dose of lisinopril: salt substitutes, aspirin, diuretics, lithium or potassium substitutes.


Pregnancy


The Food and Drug Administration classifies lisinopril as a class D drug. Because it may cause birth defects, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should seek medical advice before taking lisinopril.


Warning


Patients who suffer from the following conditions may require an altered dose of lisinopril: kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease and diabetes.
