Natural Home Remedies To Remove Blemish Spots From The Face

Honey is a product with natural disinfectant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Most people suffer from acne breakouts at some point in their lives. Acne can take a psychological and emotional toll as you struggle to gain control over your blemishes. While there are many blemish control treatments, most contain harsh chemicals that can irritate the skin. Fortunately, there are also several natural treatments for removing blemishes that may be used in the privacy of your own home. Natural treatments often take longer to work, but they are typically less irritating and more cost-effective.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is an essential oil derived from a native Australian plant. Many skin care and cosmetic companies use it in their acne treatment products because it works as a disinfectant for the skin, killing the bacteria that cause blemishes. Tea tree oil also helps reduce inflammation associated with acne and blemishes. Tea tree oil can be purchased and dotted on acne or affected areas with a cotton ball. Tea tree oil comes in different concentrations, ranging from 5 to 15 percent. Choose the concentration based on how inflamed your skin is.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar may be used as a toner to help clear and prevent blemishes. Vinegar kills bacteria on the skin, and helps clean out pores so they do not become clogged. As an acid, apple cider vinegar also helps normalize the pH balance of the skin, which helps prevent blemishes. Vinegar absorbs excess oil as well, which can also help control acne. Because apple cider vinegar is strongly acidic, it must be diluted with water. Generally, 1 part of the vinegar should be combined with 3 to 4 parts of water for an effective solution. Individuals with sensitive skin may prefer leaving the mixture on for only 10 to 15 minutes and then washing it off, so the skin does not become dry or irritated. Apple cider vinegar may also be used to steam the face. Mix 1 part of vinegar with 3 to 4 parts hot water in a bowl. Drape a towel over your head to concentrate the steam, and sit over the bowl for two to three minutes. The steam and vinegar loosen dirt and oil trapped in the pores that may lead to blemishes.

Honey

Honey, particularly manuka honey, can be extremely effective in removing blemishes. It kills bacteria that causes acne, and prevents it from spreading. Honey also has anti-inflammatory properties, which help reduce the redness and swelling associated with acne. Honey can be applied directly to the skin as a mask for approximately 20 minutes. Honey can also be mixed with lemon juice in equal parts to create an even stronger mask. Some individuals also mix honey with natural oats to create a scrub for the face, which removes dead skin that may block pores and lead to blemishes.

Zinc

Many acne sufferers take oral zinc supplements to help improve the appearance of their skin. Zinc is a natural mineral that promotes healing and reduces inflammation. The drawback to zinc is that it typically must be taken for several months before you see results. In addition, it may take some adjustment to find the proper dosage. Before starting a zinc regime, consult your doctor to determine a safe starter dosage. Copper supplements should be taken in conjunction with zinc, because zinc may interfere with the absorption of copper.
