Stop Snoring Using A Bite Guard

While snoring is a common condition, most people do not seem to realize how detrimental snoring can be to a person's health. When you attempt to sleep, the muscles in the back of your throat and mouth relax. This causes your tongue and jaw to drop back toward your throat, thus cutting off your natural airway. The force of the air that is able to pass through the airway vibrates on your throat tissues and creates the sound known as snoring. Fortunately, there are ways of correcting this disorder without surgery or bulky sleep machines. Many people have found relief by using a snore-preventing bite guard while they sleep. These guards prevent your tongue and jaw from moving and ensure that your airway remains unblocked while you rest.

Instructions

1. Visit your regular dentist and explain your problems regarding snoring and any other sleep disorders you may be experiencing.

2. Ask your dentist to prescribe a bite guard specifically designed to help you stop snoring.

3. Allow your dentist to fit your bite guard to your mouth. This process is usually done right in the office and takes no longer than 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the type of bite guard he recommends. The guard will be fitted to your upper teeth and will prevent your lower jaw from moving backward when you sleep.

4. Insert your bite guard before you go to bed in the evening. Make sure it is properly inserted and forms to your upper teeth.
