REMovyl is a dietary supplement that claims to promote weight loss without major alterations to eating habits. The product consists of a combination of an herb and natural oils that are said to block the absorption of fat into the body. REMovyl is made by REMovyl Corporation Ltd. of Henderson, Nevada.
Ingredients
REMovyl contains an herb, Camellia sinensis (green tea), and these oils: wild rosemary, sage, caraway, juniper, coriander, sweet basil, fennel, cinnamon rose, red clover, star anise, sweet orange, Tasmanian blue eucalyptus and black peppermint.
REMovyl also contains caffeine. Three capsules (they are to be taken one at a time throughout the day) contain about as much caffeine as half a cup of coffee.
Advertising
REMovyl's advertisements make strong claims, namely that the product blocks the deposition of fat in the body, and attacks and eliminates fat deposits. The advertisement drew skepticism from dietspotlight.com, whose review indicates that the supplement makers offer no clinical backup for the claims.
The oils in REMovyl have, though, long been used as digestive aids and diuretics.
Dosage and Use
REMovyl is to be taken once upon waking, and, optionally, six to 10 hours later. The product is to be taken with water, and at least five hours before bedtime. It is not recommended for the very young or very old, or those who have conditions such as depression, heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid condition or diabetes.
REMovyl's directions say that it is to be part of a broader weight-loss program consisting of exercise and a healthy diet, even though the product suggests that it can aid weight loss even for those who eat fatty, unhealthy foods.
Speed of Weight Loss
REMovyl's advertisements say the product leads to weight loss of unprecedented speed, but a closer look at the FAQ section on REMovyl's website says the following:
"Some people may lose weight more quickly than others. We suggest you continue using the REMovyl Advanced Formula treatment. By combining the REMovyl Advanced Formula treatment with a high lean-protein / low bad-carbohydrate diet and a moderate exercise program you are going to obtain your weight-loss goals more quickly."
Weight Maintenance
A common complaint about diets and diet products is that it is easy to regain weight, even after a dramatic loss. REMovyl's website addresses this concern as follows.
"After having lost your extra pounds, you will keep your weight stable." This, however, is followed by a statement that those who have reached their weight-loss goals maintain healthy diets, avoid foods heavy in fat and sugar, and even continue using REMovyl occasionally to maintain weight.
Effectiveness/Safety
Dietitians and other weight-loss specialists have long held that no product is, has ever been, or ever will be the singular "magic-bullet" solution to weight loss.
As for REMovyl, the lack of clinical information, or even conclusive online reviews, make it hard to gauge the supplement's effectiveness---or its safety. For this reason, it is best to consult a doctor before incorporating any such supplements into your diet.
