Cleanse Your Spirit

There are times when all individuals feel that they are bogged down and stressed over different situations. Whether it is from stress at work or home, or just everyday life, we can all feel as if we are drained physically, emotionally and spiritually. Practitioners of Wicca believe in attempting to be in tune with their selves and, of course, with the earth. There are many ways that you can cleanse your spirit and free yourself of the drudges that are causing you not to be where you should be spiritually, at the moment. If you are at all familiar with self cleansing techniques, you may already know several different ways that this can be done. This technique will help put you in a semi-meditative state, and allow you to erase the “dark spots” or “ripples” that may be clouding your spirit. This technique is also good for those who have never before attempted a spirit cleansing before, because of its simplicity


Instructions


Preparations


1. Find yourself a nice quiet place without any distractions. The less noise that you have around you while attempting the cleansing, the easier it will be to concentrate on what you are doing and prepare yourself for cleansing.


2. Find yourself a good comfortable sitting position that allows you to relax, without being able to fall asleep. Most people find a basic yoga sitting position with their legs folded and their arms lying at the side to be very comfortable. If you are not able to sit in this type of position, simply find a chair that you can sit in comfortably


3. Beginning your cleansing is the next step.Take deep cleansing breaths for a few moments to be able to settle yourself and your emotions. Begin your cleansing by visualizing yourself being covered in dirt or mud. The mud symbolizes the stresses and pain that may be bogging our spirits down. See all of the things that are bothering you as dirt and filth that are completely keeping your spirit from being cleansed, and literally holding you down.


4. In your mind, visualize the type of water that you feel most comfortable with, and the most cleansing. The goal is to wash those items that are holding your spirit down away. As you enter the water of your choice and it begins to wash upon your body, visualize the white light of the Goddess falling upon you. As the light and the water touch your body, see the pieces of mud/stresses washing away from your body. Feel them dripping off the tips of your fingers and your feet. As the mud washes away, softly say “I release that which attempts to hold me back, in the name of the Goddess”. Feel all of the energy and warmth of the Goddess rushing over you. Focus your thoughts on letting the light cleanse you and completely refresh your body, soul and spirit. Allow the love of the goddess to fill, protect and cleanse you.


5. Continue seeing/feeling the issues/mud wash from your body until you can literally feel them leaving your body. This is a technique that may have to be practiced for a couple times before you can feel the affects of it. Regular use of this technique will leave you feeling refreshed and your spirit cleansed.
