Leg Circulation
If you have poor leg circulation, it could be caused by several different conditions. There are ways to improve your circulation, however, and reduce feelings of numbness, tingling or cold. The main aim is to get the blood flowing freeing in your legs.
Instructions
1. Wear compression hosiery and socks that help to stimulate circulation. These are available at some specialty wear stores and medical supply outlets. Special shoes are available as well
2. Try to lower your blood pressure. If you smoke, QUIT. This will help your overall health as well. Massage can relax you and encourage circulation as well.
3. Exercise regularly. Take a short walk several times a day and keep moving as much as you can otherwise. It’s okay to sit down and watch a DVD, just pause it every half hour or so and walk around the house for a minute. Exercising will also help you lose weight which will help with your leg circulation and give you more energy as well.
4. Use an extra blanket across your legs at night for warmth, and a wedge to help elevate the legs so that the heart doesn’t have to work so hard to bring the blood back. When you sleep try to find the best position to keep the blood flowing while you sleep. Sometimes sleeping in a recliner or chair will help the blood circulate better while you sleep.
5. Lower your cholesterol by adding fiber to your diet and drinking plenty of water. Several herbal supplements are also good for venous health.
