Use An Inversion Table For C5 Compression

Decompress your spine to alleviate pain in the C5 disc.

If you are experiencing weakness in one of your biceps, this may indicate a compression of the C5 vertebra, according to HealthScout.com. The C5 root supplies the arms with nerves, so if the space gets compressed, pain and weakness can result. Use of an inversion table may help as inversion tables call for spinal decompression, according to the Bodyflex Inversion Table Owner's Manual. Decompression simply means that space gets increased between the spinal discs.

Instructions

1. Secure your feet onto the bottom of the inversion table. Stand on the foot plates with your back to the table. Press the ankle cuffs flush to the front of your ankles if your unit has ankle cuffs. There may also be a foam roller pad that you can press into your ankles. Look for a pin to pull out so you can slide the cuffs or roller toward you. The ankles must be held tightly for safe use of the inversion table.

2. Place a hand on each handlebar and lay back onto the table so that your head and neck are supported with your legs straight.

3. Release the handlebars and put your arms flat on the table next to your sides. Relax as the inversion table moves backwards so that it becomes parallel to the floor.

4. Move one arm in an arc toward the ceiling and then above your head so that your palm faces the ceiling. Repeat with your other arm until the table inverts to at least 50 to 60 degrees toward the floor. Relax into this position. A 50 to 60 degree angle is enough for spinal decompression, according to the Bodyflex owner's manual.

5. Bring your arms forward so the table moves forward. Grab the handlebars and pull yourself back to the starting position before getting off the inversion table.
