What Paint Color Stimulates The Appetite

Believe it or not, something as simple as the paint color of a room can affect the appetite. Create the effect you want by choosing the right colors for your kitchen, dining room or breakfast nook.

Colors

Red is proven to raise blood pressure, make breathing faster and increase the appetite. Red is often coupled with other warm colors like yellow and orange, as they are also known to stimulate the appetite

Decorating

In a 2006 article published by the University of Winnipeg, Satyendra Singh outlines a few scenarios in which the right paint color may boost a restaurant's profits. While cooler colors are usually more suitable for the slow pace of formal restaurants, red is commonly used to decorate restaurants where owners will benefit from a quick customer turnover.

Pros and Cons

Consider the advantages and disadvantages of decorating with appetite-stimulating colors in your home. For example, a kitchen painted with orange or red may be perfect for a child who has trouble eating enough calories each day, but it may not be advantageous for a family member who is trying to lose weight.
