When your dog is feeling bad and is constipated, mineral oil can be an easy cure to its ailment.
Mineral oil is given to dogs to use as a mild laxative. As a general rule, mineral oil is safe and easy to administer to your dog. It is also effective in helping constipation. There are just a few simple rules to follow to give your dog mineral oil.
Instructions
How Much Mineral Oil
1. Try to get the right amount of mineral oil to the size of your dog.
For smaller dogs, under 25 pounds, give one teaspoon. For slightly larger dogs, 25 to 50 pounds, give a tablespoon. Larger dogs, 50 to 100 pounds, give 2 tablespoons.
2. Get some of your dog's food and add the correct amount of mineral oil to the food and let the dog eat it.
3. If he will not eat his regular food, you may need to get some raw meat or a similar piece of food that he will ingest and add the oil to the food.
4. If the dog does not eat the food with mineral oil, you have to go to the other end to help him.
As a last resort, if the earlier methods fail, you can use a bulb syringe for large dogs or an eye dropper for smaller dogs. You can fill them with mineral oil and give them an enema. This should help with the constipation.

The most common type of baby rash is the diaper rash. Diaper rashes can occur for many different reasons. Diaper rashes should be treated with a diaper rash ointment such as Desitin. In order to reduce the chance that your baby will get a diaper rash, be sure to change his diaper often, even during the night.
Chafing
A diaper rash may occur as a result of chafing when the diaper rubs across a baby's skin. Putting the diaper on more loosely or choosing a larger diaper may prevent chafing.
Chemical Sensitivity
Some babies may be sensitive to certain chemicals either used in the manufacturing of a disposable diaper or present in a cloth diaper as a result of washing with harsh detergents. If a chemical sensitivity is suspected, caregivers should try a different brand of disposable diapers or a milder detergent for cloth diapers.
Wetness
Unabsorbed urine can mix with fecal bacteria to create ammonia, which can cause rashes in babies. Diapers should be changed often to prevent the skin from getting too moist.
New Food Consumption
Babies often get diaper rashes after eating a new food. Also, breastfed babies may get a rash when their mother eats a new food. This type of rash will usually subside as the baby gets used to the new food.
Antibiotics
Babies often get diaper rashes while taking antibiotics. Breastfed babies may get a diaper rash if their mother is taking antibiotics. Rashes caused by antibiotics usually go away soon after the course of antibiotics is finished.
Yeast Infection
Babies may also get yeast infections in their diaper area. If the rash does not clear up within 2 to 3 days using typical diaper rash treatments, it may be a yeast infection. In that case, a doctor should be contacted because the baby will need a prescription antifungal medication to treat the rash.

Wearing granite can improve your perspective and get rid of skepticism.
While granite is popular around the world for constructing buildings, many people don't realize that the stone contains metaphysical properties. To harness the spiritual benefits of granite, you can wear an amulet made from the rock---it's found in a variety of colors, including blue, red and green---or place an object made from granite on an altar at home.
Physical Health
Granite is affiliated with lending strength to your physical health. Wear granite if you want your hair to become stronger and to make your soft tissues, muscles and bones firmer. Granite can also help with health ailments related to your head and face, such as headaches or acne.
Increase Abundance and Protection
People who long for more abundance in their lives---whether related to their finances, their love life or the success of their business---should wear a granite talisman. It's also considered a "guardian stone" that offers protection, which makes it an ideal gift for children or for people who have high-risk jobs, like military personnel.
Emotions
When granite is extracted from the ocean floor, it's believed that the stone helps keep emotions calm, because it contains both elements of the ocean (which represents the emotions) and the grounding properties of earth. This, in turn, lets people feel happier and experience more balanced relationships in all areas of their life.
Perspective
Granite is an excellent stone to carry if you want to be able to see the big picture in life more clearly instead of getting bogged down in trivial details. Because the rock enhances the ability to be practical and disperses negativity, it helps overcome skepticism. It also aids in diplomacy and improves people's cooperation.
As an alternative to flossing, the dental Waterpik uses a steady stream of warm water to clean your gums. It is a simple way to keep the gums healthy and reach difficult places. Healthy gums mean fewer cavities and better overall oral hygiene. For best results, use proper techniques when operating your Waterpik.
Instructions
1. Fill the reservoir with warm water and firmly secure the lid. This is the water you'll be spraying on your gums and teeth.
2. Choose the tip you want to use. Press the tip firmly into the handle.
3. Adjust the pressure setting. The Waterpik has different speeds that designate how fast the water will shoot into your mouth. First timers should use the lowest speed to avoid causing gum irritation.
4. Lean over the sink and place the Waterpik in your mouth before turning it on. Your lips should close over the tip to keep the water from splashing. Allow the water to flow freely from your mouth into the sink.
5. Hold the jet tip at a 90 degree angle to the gums. Aim the water flow just above the gum line. This position should give you the best result, moving the Waterpik along at a slow and steady pace. The water should be streaming into the gum areas and the crevices between your teeth.
6. Follow the gum line starting with the back teeth and moving forward until you reach the other side of your mouth. Keep the unit upright to ensure a continuous flow of water. If at any time you need to stop the device, use the pause button on the handle.
7. When you are finished, remove the Waterpik from the handle attachment by pressing the eject button. Store the device.

Tanacetum parthenium is the plant from which the medicinal feverfew herb is obtained.
Tanacetum is a genus of flowering plants in the aster family. It contains over 150 species, including those with the common names tansy and feverfew. The natural insecticide pyrethrum is obtained from the dried flowers of T. cinerariifolium. Many varieties make wonderful cut flowers or bedding plants. The germination process for Tanacetum seeds is generally the same for most species, but the time it takes for them to sprout varies widely. Grow Tanacetum within zones 3 through 7 of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Plant Hardiness Zone Map. Sow Tanacetum seeds indoors four to six weeks before the last frost in spring.
Instructions
1. Fill a nursery flat with seed starting mix. These mixtures contain several types of materials that help prevent damping off, a fungal disease of seeds and seedlings. Moisten the mix until water runs out of the bottom. Allow the mix to drain until it is moist, not saturated.
2. Scatter the seeds on the surface of the mix and cover with a 1/4-inch layer of sand or vermiculite. Slip the flat into a plastic bag and seal it.
3. Place a heat mat in an area where the seeds will get lots of light, such as near a south-facing window. Set the thermostat to 68 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit and place the bagged flat on top. Germination times vary, according to species -- generally 12 to 60 days. If you are growing Tanacetum coccineum, parthenium, balsamita, cineariifolium, coccineum, demetrii, niveum, huronense or vulgaris, lower the heat mat's temperature to 24 to 39 degrees Fahrenheit for two to four weeks if the seeds do not germinate within four weeks.

Using food as a reward is more common than you might think. Many people see certain foods as "taboo" and only eat them when a special occasion comes around or when they have done something important that merits recognition. Associations like these often develop in childhood. If you are ready to change these associations and behaviors, there are a few things you can do.
Instructions
1. Ask yourself why you use food as a reward. Determine if it has to do more with habit or family tradition. Once you understand why you overeat, you can take steps to change your behavior, either alone or with the help of a therapist.
2. Don't reward yourself with food when something goes well. Instead of celebrating a promotion or a winning bid with dinner or dessert, go shopping, visit a spa or sneak out for a movie matinee. Do something nice for yourself that makes you feel great without adding weight.
3. Look for rewards that are long lasting. If you are using food as a reward, the good feelings will stop as soon as you finish the meal. Instead, buy yourself something nice that you can use for a long time and that will remind you of your success every time you see it.
4. Stop rewarding kids with food. Many of the attitudes we have towards food come from childhood. Many parents offer sweets to kids who stop crying or eat their vegetables. Instead, make these "reward" foods a common part of everyday life, so children don't see them as anything special. Just make sure to control the portion sizes.
5. Find fun places near you that aren't restaurants. Many adult social lives revolve almost entirely around eating and drinking. Make it a point to play mini golf, go bowling, take in a play, go to a movie, visit a comedy club or enjoy other types of entertainment that don't focus on food. Your friend s will appreciate being invited to unusual events like these.
6. Avoid situations in which food is made the center of the celebration as much as you can. If you have no choice, such as in the case of office parties or weddings, celebrate and reward yourself by interacting with the people around you or enjoying the music, rather than concentrating on the meal itself.

The loss of a filling will invariably result in a trip to the dentist.
Dental fillings do not last forever. Eventually, the tooth that surrounds them may become further decayed and your filling may fall out. While there is no getting around replacing your filling, there are options for reducing further damage. One way to aid in the prevention of additional cavities is remineralization. Remineralization provides needed minerals to the teeth, allowing them to maintain strength or even become stronger. Several methods may help remineralize your teeth.
Instructions
1. Ask your dentist if you need an additional fluoride treatment or a mouth rinse that contains fluoride. According to the American Dental Association, fluoride is effective in remineralizing teeth. In addition to treatments your dentist provides and mouth rinses, fluoride can be found in most toothpastes and many local water supplies.
2. Chew gum or brush your teeth with a toothpaste that contains casein, a by-product of cows' milk. Casein provides minerals in a soluble form that can be absorbed by your teeth -- in conjunction with fluoride treatment or when used alone. Several types of toothpaste and chewing gum contain casein derivatives. Check with your dentist to determine whether these products may be of benefit.
3. Adjust your mealtime behaviors. Snacking between meals and drinking sugary or acidic drinks can further erode tooth enamel and cause additional fillings to fall out. Brush your teeth after you eat, and drink only water between meals.
4. Give your diet a makeover. Deficiencies in minerals, such as zinc, iron and magnesium, can cause tooth decay and lost fillings. Eat more leafy green vegetables and other foods rich in minerals. If your diet doesn't provide enough minerals, consider taking a mineral supplement.

Want to lose those excess pounds? Get toned? Get a hard body? Follow these steps and you'll get fit in no time.
Instructions
1. Decide what you're looking for. Do you want to lose a little weight? Do you want to get toned, or do you want to build muscle? There are different exercise options for different goals.
2. Experts say that a combination of cardiovascular exercise (like running, where your heart rate gets and stays elevated) and strength training is best for all types of fitness goals. If you just want to lose weight, you can focus more on cardio work. If you want to get toned or get strong, you may lean towards more strength training.
3. Always stretch before working out. Spend a few minutes slowly stretching the body parts that you will be exercising.
4. Starting a cardiovascular work out is easy. Remember, your goal is to get your heart rate up, and keep it there for at least thirty minutes. You have a variety of different ways you can do this. You can walk quickly, jog or run. You can ride a bicycle. You can go rowing. Be creative -- do things you will enjoy, and don't be afraid to change up activities.
5. Strength training can be a little more intimidating, but it shouldn't be. Start with pushups -- everyone knows do them! It does not matter if you can only do two or three to start -- you will get stronger. Follow up with squats: stand with your feet hip-width apart, toes facing straight ahead. Slowly bend your knees and lower your hips towards the floor, keeping your torso straight and abs pulled in tight. Repeat several times.
6. Get yourself a set of light free weights, and start doing some basic exercises. Try doing simple arm curls, then progress to different routines, like lifting the weights above your head. As you get stronger, you will be able to do more advanced exercises. Try to do at least three sets (a set is one series of repetitions) of five reps each.
7. Don't forget to cool down. If you are doing cardio, spend five minutes slowly walking after your work out. If you've been strength training, do follow up stretches of the muscle areas you worked out.
Cardispan is a weight loss injected medication and is manufactured in Mexico. It has not been approved by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration. The main ingredient of Cardispan is L-Carnitine. Proponents say Cardispan, a self-dose medication, pinpoints fat problem spots on the body, including the thighs and buttocks.
Warning
There is not a lot of information about Cardispan's production. It is an expensive high-end substance. Cardispan injections are reportedly painful, and there is not a standard dosage stipulation.
Diarrhea
Diarrhea, a side effect of Cardispan, is caused by the breakdown of the fat molecules which cause flatulation.
Abdominal Cramps
Cardispan is intended to pinpoint specific fat molecules, but sometimes the breakdown of the molecules can cause cramps in the abdomen.
Nausea
Cardispan users have reported nausea in the hours following the injection. This is especially true after injections are administered on an empty stomach.
Vomiting
Vomiting after injection has also been reported by Cardispan users.
Panic Attacks
Cardispan, as a drug that manipulates the metabolism, can cause increased heart rates and induce panic attacks.
A burning sensation that can be felt in the throat, a sour taste in your mouth, nausea, chest pain, and a chronic cough are all prime signs of acid reflux. These symptoms may indicate that you have an acid reflux problem that is a chronic condition. A lifestyle change will be necessary, and a few medications are available to treat this disorder.
Instructions
1. Eat a diet that is low in fat. Stay away from foods that will intensify the acid reflux such as foods that are fried, fatty foods, butter, mayonnaise, anything that is creamed, chocolate, any kind of mints, citrus, spicy foods and tomatoes.
2. Stay away from drinks that include caffeine including coffee, pop and tea. Avoid alcohol at all costs, as this will really affect acid reflux.
3. Drop some weight if you are overweight. Never lie down before an hour has passed after eating. Do not eat heavy nighttime snacks.
4. Quit smoking cigarettes as they will contribute to your reflux.
5. Sucking on hard candies and gum chewing can worsen acid reflux because it allows air to get in, which results in belching. Belching can cause acid reflux to get worse. Drink a minimum of 80 ounces of water daily.
6. Elevate your head about 8 inches each night while you are sleeping as lying flat will increase acid reflux.
7. Decrease the stress in your life because stress will trigger acid reflux.
8. Wearing tight fitting clothes will also increase any acid reflux, so make sure that especially around the stomach area the clothes are looser.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulates the rules and guidelines for the use and release of a patient's personal health information. This is also referred to as "protected health information." State and federal laws as well as individual hospital policies tend to be more restrictive in their standards than HIPAA privacy regulations in regards to using and releasing a patient's health information, but the most restrictive law or policy in comparison between them will be honored and implemented.
Rights of Patients
According to HIPAA regulations, patients have to be informed about how their personal health information will be used. They must be given the option to object to their information being used or released and be allowed the decision on restrict the release and use of their private health information. Hospitals, on the other hand, can use and disclose a patient's personal health information without the patient's consent in the cases of treatment, payment and health care operations. Also under the HIPAA privacy regulations and by specific provisions, limited information about a patient can be released without the patient's consent when someone asks for the patient by name.
Hospital Directory
The following information can be placed in a hospital directory if a patient does not object to its inclusion: patient's name, specific location within the attending covered healthcare facility, condition in general terms without specific information about the patient, and religious affiliation (only released to clergy who do not have to ask for the patient by name). This information is only for directory purposes and may be available to clergy or to anyone else who asks for the patient by name.
Condition of Patient
A patient's condition may be made available within the limitations implemented by the HIPAA privacy regulations. If a patient is asked for by name, a general description of the condition may be released without any specific information being provided about the patient. Information regarding minors (children under 18 years old) may be released only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian according to the HIPAA guidelines.
Emergencies
In cases of emergency circumstances where patients are not able to object to or restrict the use of their health information in the hospital directories because they are in need of emergency treatment (or incapacitated), privacy regulations make allowances for the hospital's use or disclosure of this information in the hospital directory. This is allowable only when it is compatible with the known preferences of the patient or is disclosed with the patient's best interest and professional judgment of the covered healthcare provider. Both cases must be accurate in order for patient information to be made available in the hospital's directory, according to HIPAA regulations. Some states have restrictions that do not allow the release of any information pertaining to the status of HIV/AIDS patients. And information concerning patients in drug or alcohol treatment programs (whether they are attending or not attending a program) is not allowed. EMS units and ambulance services are also restricted by HIPAA regulations concerning patients' information.
Disaster Relief and Death
In disaster relief situations, hospitals and other covered entities may release the health information regarding a patient to public and private entities lawfully authorized to assist in disaster relief efforts for the purpose of coordinating services to contact persons directly responsible for the patient's care. This includes family members and personal representatives. Hospitals are required by law to report the death of a patient. Information about a patient's death is made public after efforts have been made to notify family members/next-of-kin. A legal representative or the next-of-kin of the deceased must approve the release of such information, such as cause of death, before the hospital can release it to the public.

If you notice that your child has bald patches on their head, you may want to speak with your child's doctor about trichotillomania or hair pulling.
Hair pulling, also called trichotillomania can prove disconcerting for parents, children, and physicians. Hair pulling sometimes occurs in young children, who pull out hair from their eyelashes, eyebrows, scalp or other body areas, which cause bald patches.
Statistic
According to the Trichotillomania Learning Center, approximately 2 to 4% or between 2-10 million Americans have trichotillomania. Mental Health America states that some begin pulling their hair around ages 12-13; however, it is not uncommon to begin at an earlier age and has even been seen in children at age one.
Signs and Symptoms
Parents who suspect that there child has a hair pulling disorder should carefully observe their child in daily tasks. Hair pulling often involves the inability to resist pulling hair out, gratification, relaxation, and relief during or after pulling, noticeable hair loss, and distress. Children who engage in behavior like sucking their thumb, banging their head, biting their nails or scratching their skin may also suffer from hair pulling.
Causes
The exact cause of hair pulling in children is unknown, however, according to the Trichotillomania Learning Center, it may relate to genetics or a neuro-biological disorder or even changes in hormone levels. Children who pull their hair often use it as a coping mechanism to deal with anxiety, anger, frustration or other emotions. Some children have a trigger to pull hair after a stressful event, such as abuse, parental divorce, death of a parent or close friend or family member, changing schools or event.
Diagnosis
If you want your child evaluated for hair pulling, your child's doctor may need to take a biopsy to pinpoint the cause and see if your child's hair is falling out, especially if you have not seen your child engage in hair pulling. Your child's pediatrician may refer you to a mental health provider or behavioral specialist to provide evaluation and treatment.
Prevention
Parents who want to decrease hair pulling in children should monitor their behavior and look for triggers that cause hair pulling. Minimizing the triggers and reducing stress in the household and learning environment may reduce the urge for your child to pull their hair. Keep a logbook to outline the trigger, the behavior, emotional state, time of day, and any other pertinent notes regarding the hair pulling incident to help therapy.
Treatment
Treatment for hair pulling includes a combination of cognitive behavior therapy, medication and support groups. Cognitive behavioral therapy will examine the factors of hair pulling and the triggers, and help both parents and child learn new skills to interrupt and redirect responses. Although there is no pill to stop hair pulling, some medications such antidepressants can help ease anxiety or depression that may be associated with trichotillomania. Support groups offer camaraderie and remind the parents of children who suffer from hair pulling that they do not need to cope alone.

Doxycycline is a antibiotic that has a variety of side effects, which includes acid reflux and the possibility for an allergic reaction. It can also cause some other very serious side effects, such as permanent yellowing of teeth and, in infants or children, a sudden stoppage of bone growth. As with any antibiotic, the risks of side effects must be balanced with the advantages of using that particular antibiotic.
Doxycycline
Doxycycline is an antibiotic that is related to tetracycline. It can be used to treat a variety of infections, including bacterial and certain kinds of parasitic infections. It is often used to treat acne and diseases of the urinary tract and reproductive system. It can also be used prophylactically to prevent malaria.
Doxycycline and the Menstrual Cycle
Doxycycline is often anecdotally reported to interact with the menstrual cycle. Many women report that their period is delayed. This delay can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks. This delay is reported to occur both in women who are sexually active and those who aren't.
Causes of Delayed Periods
The menstrual cycle is very sensitive to hormonal levels. These hormones can be affected by a variety of factors, including nutrition, stress and alterations in the circadian rhythm. While it is possible that doxycycline can interact with hormone levels, the conditions that often warrant doxycycline treatment (infection or malaria prophylaxis) can also lead to stress and dietary changes.
Doxycycline and Oral Contraceptives
Many doctors recommend that patients who are using oral contraceptives utilize another method of birth control while taking doxycycline. This is because doxycycline causes certain enzymes in the liver to become more activated. Because these enzymes also break down oral contraceptives, doxycycline treatment could compromise the effectiveness of these medications. Because oral contraceptives work by controlling hormone levels, any drug that interacts with them could disrupt the hormone cycle.
Significance
Clinical studies have determined that doxycycline does not decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Nevertheless, because of the medication's potential to disrupt the hormonal cycle, many physicians still recommend "backup" contraception for patients taking doxycycline.

Severe fatigue is defined by Medline Plus Medical Encyclopedia as, "an extreme feeling of weariness, tiredness or lack of energy." Everyone experiences the occasional bout of fatigue, as it is the body's natural way of alerting you that it needs rest and sleep. But prolonged periods of fatigue or frequent episodes of fatigue may be indicative of a deeper problem. Severe fatigue can be brought about by a variety of different things such as depression, medication or a vitamin deficiency.
Depression
Depression is one of the most commonly diagnosed conditions in the medical and psychiatric fields. The effects can be felt in both a mental and physical way, sometimes resulting in severe fatigue. As with most side effects of depression, proper medication and possibly cognitive behavioral therapy can address and eliminate the fatigue by solving the root of the problem.
Medication
Some medications carry a side effect of severe fatigue. Such medications include: Ambien, Claritin, Klonopin, Depo-Provera, Loratadine, Strattera, Valtrex and Wellbutrin. As all of these medications are available only by prescription, it is important to communicate with your physician or psychiatrist before stopping such medication. It is highly probable that they will be able to prescribe an alternate medication that does not carry the severe fatigue side effect.
Iron Deficiency
Iron deficiency, also known as anemia, is well known for its side effect of producing severe fatigue in the sufferer. By simply adding an iron supplement to your daily regime and incorporating an abundance of iron-rich foods into your diet, you should see relief from all side effects of the anemia quite rapidly.
Warnings
While some causes of severe fatigue can be treated or eliminated relatively easily, it is important to note that any such negative physical condition that you are experiencing should be brought to your physician's attention.

An internal parasite that can live in your body for years without symptoms, pinworms can measure up to 1/2 inch in length. Various home remedies exist that claim to rid your body of the worms. Vinegar is one of these remedies. Vinegar will not kill the pinworms; however, it can help rid your body of the parasitic worm. A prescription from a licensed physician for anti-parasite medication is still required to kill the pinworms.
Pinworms
According to the Mayo Clinic, the pinworm is the most common form of internal worm infestation in the United States. A pinworm infestation can occur when you ingest microscopic pinworm eggs. The female pinworms will lay her eggs around the folds of your anus while you are sleeping. This can cause irritation and when you scratch the area, the eggs transfer to your fingers and hands, which will then transfer to other surfaces. If another person touches that surface, the eggs will attach themselves to that persons hands and -- if they touch their mouth -- the eggs will gain entry into the new host's body. Pinworms are most common in children.
Vinegar
A diet high in sugar and carbohydrates will make the parasitic infection worse. Parasites thrive on sugars. If possible, reduce the amount of sugars and carbohydrates you consume. Furthermore, incorporate apple cider vinegar to your daily routine. By adding 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar to 1 glass of water, and drinking the concoction once a day, you will lower your pH level and create an unpleasant environment for the pinworms to live.
Prevention
The best defense against parasitic worms is to take the necessary precautions. To prevent pinworms from spreading, wash the anal area -- where the pinworms lay their eggs at night -- with warm, soapy water every morning. Launder your bedding in the hottest water temperature allowed for that specific fabric. The hot water will help kill the pinworm eggs. Wash your hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water after touching your anal area and before eating.
Considerations
Always consult your primary care physician before beginning any home remedy treatment. To completely rid your body of the parasite, your doctor must prescribe you -- and possibly other members of your household -- an anti-parasite medication. Even though vinegar can help rid your body of pinworms, it will not kill the parasite. When dealing with pinworms, refrain from scratching your anal area. This can cause the worms to spread as well as inflame your skin.

Morning sickness is a stereotypical indication of pregnancy, but a woman who's under a lot of stress should consider other possible causes for recurring nausea. Though nausea is always a telltale sign of pregnancy on television and in other stories, in real life, nausea has so many other potential precursors that it's a rather unreliable pregnancy predictor.
Significance
Morning sickness is so named because nausea associated with pregnancy tends to be at its worst just after waking. The hormones of pregnancy cause a woman to generally be more sensitive to flavors, smells and other nausea triggers. But in the morning, after several hours of sleep, the stomach is empty and especially sensitive to irritating gastric fluids. It should be noted that not all pregnant women experience morning sickness. A woman who's been pregnant before with no nausea should therefore suspect that her new morning nausea may be caused by something other than pregnancy.
Function
Physical symptoms of stress can cause stomach upset. Stress causes the adrenal glands to produce adrenalin and glucocorticoids. Under normal circumstances these hormones trigger the "flight or fight" response, which is a positive physiological mechanism that saves a person from true danger. But when adrenal activity is routinely elevated by psychological stress, hormone levels do not have a chance to revert to a normal baseline and may cause a host of physical maladies including gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, stomach pain and nausea.
Effects
Nausea from stress is physical, not psychological. Stomach acid production increases in response to chronic stress, and the digestive processes may actually slow down. Just as in morning sickness of pregnancy, stress nausea may be worse upon waking than at other times of the day. So for a woman, it's easy to mistake this for morning sickness. However, unlike hormonally based morning sickness, a woman doesn't have to simply wait for stress related nausea to go away. It can be treated effectively.
Prevention/Solution
Severe cases of stress related nausea may be treated with medications to reduce stomach acid. Anti-anxiety medications may be prescribed when underlying anxiety is severe. However, stress reduction is a necessary part of a long-term treatment plan. Relaxation techniques, especially meditation, are associated with reduced production of adrenalin and glucocorticoids that cause the stress response. Exercise, attention to sleep habits and participation in talk therapy are also sometimes useful in reducing physical symptoms of stress.
Considerations
High stress levels do not eliminate the possibility of pregnancy, and stress may also be a key factor in the severity of morning sickness in pregnant women. So a woman experiencing morning nausea should be alert to other signs of pregnancy. A late menstrual period, extreme fatigue, excessive hunger or tender or swollen breasts should arouse suspicion of pregnancy and warrant a pregnancy test.
Liposuction is a popular surgery procedure that involves removing excess fatty tissue from underneath the skin, usually for cosmetic purposes. This surgery is often an alternative to diet and exercise. People can choose to get liposuction on almost any area of their body. Of course, surgery is expensive, but depending on many factors, you may end up not spending as much as you thought.
Body Area
The cost of liposuction will vary depending on the area of your body where you intend to get the surgery. Here is a list of popular areas of the body and the average price range for liposuction:
Outer thighs: $1,600 to $5,000.
Inner thighs: $2,000 to $5,000.
Hips/Waist: $1,600 to $5,000.
Abdomen: $3,000 to $7,500.
Arms: $1,500 to $5,000.
Chin/Cheeks/Neck: $2,000 to $4,500.
Breasts: $3,000 to $7,500.
Back: $1,500 to $4,000.
Buttocks: $1,500 to $4,500.
Average Cost
Believe it or not, the average cost of liposuction can be very affordable. According to the Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery, the national average is around $4,000 for one area of the body.
Location
The cost of this surgery will vary significantly by where you plan on getting it done. For instance, a practice located in New York City will cost significantly more than a rurally located practice in Arkansas.
Factors
These are common factors that determine what the cost of a liposuction procedure will be: patient size, operating room fees, anesthesiologist's service fees, amount of time and effort required and lab fees.
Other Variables
The cost of liposuction is also determined by the type of procedure, the sex of the patient, how long the physician has been practicing and how many areas are being done at the same time.
Biofeedback is a teaching tool that can help you become aware of, recognize, and manage stress and tension in your body that can exacerbate pain, mental suffering and other negative reflexes. Rather than a cure, biofeedback is a method for treating a variety of physical and mental ailments. It does not replace but is used in addition to available medical treatment for the offending condition, which can include migraine headaches, arthritis, anxiety attacks, depression, incontinence, athletic injuries or back pain.
Why Biofeedback Is an Important Adjunct to Usual Medical Treatments
Frequently, medications are available for people with chronic pain or mental disorders. But drugs do not always alleviate pain or mental suffering satisfactorily, so biofeedback is an important weapon in any patient's arsenal. Once mastered, biofeedback can actually help you reduce pain or mental suffering and even prevent a migraine headache, for example, from getting a grip. You may also be able to taper off of certain medications eventually if biofeedback works for you.
How Biofeedback Works
By actually seeing how your body's physical processes react to pain, worry or anxiety, you can learn interrupt the cause-and-effect mechanism. During your biofeedback training, you will see an actual link between what is going on in your mind and your breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, skin temperature, perspiration, muscle tension and brain activity.
What Happens During Biofeedback
Your physician will refer you to a licensed biofeedback expert in your area. The biofeedback therapist may attach very sensitive electrode sensors to your forehead, back, finger, neck and other relevant areas to monitor your breathing and heart rate, your blood pressure, skin temperature, perspiration rate, muscle tension and brain activity.
The therapist will first help you to reach a state of relaxation, so you can observe as the sensors record bodily changes. For example, your skin temperature will increase, indicating that your circulation is improving; your muscles will slow their tightening process; and your heart rate will slow. A polygraph test is based on the same principle.
The therapist will then cause a state of tension and stress in your body by asking you about any troubling issues in your life. You will then be able to actually watch the physical changes, such as a quickened pulse, rising blood pressure, dropping skin temperature, and tightening neck muscles.
After this phase, the biofeedback therapist will teach you reduce your tension through muscle relaxation techniques, refocused thinking or deep breathing, thereby visibly returning the signals back to normal levels.
After a number of sessions --- up to 20 or more, depending on the particular tension-producing condition --- the connection between your state of mind and your bodily processes will be clear, and you will be able to put your new, learned behavior to work for you without the sensors and monitors.
The Potential of Biofeedback for Children
Because research has demonstrated its effectiveness, biofeedback is being used more and more for children with tension headaches, epilepsy, hyperactivity, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, sleep disorders, incontinence, high blood pressure and mild brain injuries. Children learn faster than adults because they have not yet established ingrained pain reactions that need to be overcome.
The Added Benefits of Biofeedback
Besides helping you feel better and use fewer drugs, biofeedback can enable you to miss fewer days of work and school, and improve the quality and quantity of your leisure time. You can sleep better, be more productive, and gain self-esteem and a more positive attitude. Your family life may improve as you are able to concentrate on important matters, improve the duration of your patience, and reclaim your sense of humor.
Deep gum and root cleaning, or deep cleaning, is a procedure that treats the early stages of gum disease through scaling and root planing techniques. Gum disease is common, and early-stage gum disease can be treated effectively if caught in time.
Deep cleaning treats the early stages of gum disease.
Background
Gum disease is caused by bacteria that thrive on tartar and plaque buildups. Gum disease progresses into the foundations of the tooth and, if left untreated, can eventually damage the bone structure of the teeth.
Scaling
Scaling is the process of scraping plaque and tarter off the tooth. In a regular cleaning, dentists scale the part of the tooth that is above the gum line. In deep cleaning, the tooth is scaled above and below the gum line.
Root Planing
Root planing involves smoothing root surfaces and extracting infected tooth structures. Eliminating rough spots where bacteria gather helps eliminate bacteria that cause gum disease.
What to Expect
Anesthetic injections or topical gels are sometimes used to make a deep cleaning more comfortable; some dentists may use antibiotic gels to help kill bacteria. Deep cleaning procedures are sometimes broken down into several appointments.
Recovery
Over-the-counter painkillers can help alleviate discomfort after deep cleaning. Your teeth may bleed or become more sensitive; you should brush and floss gently.

A total knee replacement may be necessary if you experience severe pain when walking or performing everyday tasks. A prosthetic knee can last ten years or longer when properly cared for. Physical rehabilitation after surgery teaches you care for your knee. After rehabilitation, you will be able to drive, walk, participate in certain sports and continue to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
Total Knee Replacement
Total knee replacement surgery may be performed after you have undergone treatment for severe pain in or around your knee. Treatments include anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy and wearing a knee brace. Restrictions in movement are recommended. During these treatments, you should refrain from playing tennis or other vigorous sports.
During surgery, your knee will be replaced with a prosthetic knee. You will need additional physical therapy after surgery to help you adjust to using your new knee. Physical therapy can last up to three months depending on how well your body adjusts to the prosthetic.
Recovery
After surgery, you will remain in the hospital for up to four days. During this time, you will be shown bend, walk and move using the new prosthetic knee. You will also be monitored for pain and infection.
Bending, stretching and riding a stationary bicycle are common exercise routines you will have to complete in order to make a full recovery. Performing everyday tasks such as dressing, cleaning and walking help you adapt quickly to your new knee. During your recovery, avoid playing tennis or other high impact sports until your physical therapist or physican says otherwise. Damage to the prosthetic knee can lead to pain, additional surgery and longer rehabilitation time.
Completing a physical rehabilitation program increases your chances of being able to participate in sports such as tennis and golf. Complete daily exercises to help speed your recovery.
Tennis and Other Activities
To resume regular exercise and sports activities, dedicating yourself to completing physical rehabilitation after sugery is important. Playing tennis is possible after surgery, but you may have to forgo playing singles tennis matches as the added strain of having to run back and forth could loosen the prosthetic knee. Doubles tennis, which is lower impact, is recommended after total knee replacement surgery.
If you experience pain after a match, contact your physician or physical therapist. You may need to reduce the number of times per week that you play tennis. Depending on your recovery, you may or may not be able to enter tennis competitions due to the strain placed on the knee.
If you can no longer play tennis, consider other activities such as bowling, boating, swimming, dancing or yoga. These activities are low impact and have many enjoyable qualities for those who want to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.

A mosquito bite is an annoyance that results in a constant itching sensation and can even lead to swelling. A number of over-the-counter treatments for insect bites are available, but when you get a mosquito bite, you will want instant relief rather than having to make a run to the store. Several alternatives using common household items can address the itching and pain just as effectively---and often more conveniently---as the store-bought treatments.
Baking Soda
Mix baking soda and vinegar to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to the site of the mosquito bite. The chemistry of the paste will react with the toxins in the venom to neutralize the acid and provide immediate relief from itching. As the paste mixture dries out, it will form a protective barrier over the sting, allowing the bite to heal more quickly. Because the paste will begin to flake off as it dries, wrap the area in gauze.
Toothpaste
Toothpaste applied directly to the site of a mosquito bite will soothe itching and prevent you from scratching the area, which will only spread the poison and increase the itching. The active ingredients in the toothpaste neutralize the acid. The glycerin in the toothpaste will help dry out the venom underneath the skin.
Kitchen Products
Common ingredients you use to cook can also be applied to a mosquito bite. For instance, after rubbing water on the bite area to moisten it, rub salt over the bite. The itching should subside right away. Meat tenderizer works the same way as the salt and can be rubbed directly on the bite. Apple cider vinegar will also help relieve itching, but it might irritate sensitive skin.
Deodorant
The alkaline nature of deodorant makes it a great home remedy for insect bites. The solid variety, rather than a gel or spray, should be used for this purpose. Simply rub the deodorant across the site of the bite for quick relief.
Aloe
Of all the home remedies for skin conditions, including mosquito bites, aloe is one of the most popular. Well known for its healing properties, aloe vera gel applied to a bite not only will provide a soothing, cooling sensation but also will help the bite to heal more quickly.
Triphala is a staple formula of the traditional Indian medical system known as Ayurveda. It is made from the powdered fruits of three plants that are all used as medicine on their own and believed to have profound therapeutic potential when combined to make triphala. Recently, triphala has been gaining popualrity in the West due to its reported ability to overcome stress, fight cancer, boost the immune system and as an overall rejuvenating tonic. Studies of triphala have revealed some astonishing results and have confirmed many of the properties and actions that triphala has been know to posses for thousands of years.
History
Triphala is made from three fruits; Amalaki, Haritaki and Bibhitaki. Amalaki, also known as Indian gooseberry, is considered a sacred plant and is used in many Ayurveda formulas due its high concentration of Vitamin C. Haritaki has been used since the vedic age in India as a tonic food and is said to contain five of the six "tastes" in the Ayurvedic system. Bibhitaki also has a long history of use as food and medicine and is considered the "king of medicines" in Tibet. Some of the traditional depictions of the Buddha in India show him holding Bibhitaki fruit in his hand.
Stress
One of the most common traditional uses of triphala in the Ayurvedic system is as a supreme stress tonic that keeps the body from free of disease even during periods of extreme duress. In a study published in Iran's Biological & Pharmaceutical Bulletin in 2005, researchers tested the effects of triphala on the immune systems of rats exposed to noise stress. They found that triphala effectively prevented the noise-induced stress to suppress immune function.
Cancer
As a potent rejuvenating tonic that wards off disease, triphala enjoys a legendary reputation in Ayurvedic medicine. A study published in January 2006 in the journal Cancer Letters tested triphala on human breast cancer cells as well as mice that were given cancer through a transplant. The researchers found that triphala caused aptosis (death of cancer cells) in the human breast cancer tissue and caused the mice tumors to shrink. They concluded that triphala is a potential anticancer drug for clinical use.
Antibiotic
Much of triphala's reputation as a tonic formula to ward off disease and prolong a healthy life may be due to its profound antibiotic qualities. In a review of triphala's antimicrobial properties published in the Journal of Evidence Based Complementary Alternative Medicine in March 2008, researchers examined triphala's action against a large number of bacteria. They found that triphala exhibited a broad spectrum of activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria. In fact it inhibited all bacteria that it was tested against.
Potential
As an immune-boosting, cancer-fighting, stress-reducing tonic for the warriors of the modern world, triphala may be just what the doctor ordered. Triphala is readily available in pill form at most health food stores and in bulk powder at Indian groceries as well as many on-line retailers.

Asthma is an inflammatory disorder of the lungs, causing attacks of shortness of breath, wheezing and tightness in the chest. Some patients are born with asthma, while others develop this disease later in life. While asthma is a chronic health issue for sufferers, its severity ranges from very mild to severe. Those with the severe form of this disorder can find themselves in the hospital while people with a mild form of asthma can manage their symptoms with a "rescue" inhaler.
Types
Aside from bronchial asthma, patients can suffer from allergic asthma, exercise-induced asthma, nocturnal asthma, occupational asthma and non-allergic asthma. Non-allergic asthma can be triggered by substances in the air, a cold, the flu, sudden temperature changes and gastroesophageal reflux disorder. Nocturnal asthma can be triggered by hormonal changes, postnasal drip or a sinus infection. Women who suffer from asthma can see their symptoms improve or worsen when they become pregnant.
Features
Bronchial asthma is a "chronic inflammatory disease of the airways which causes periodic "attacks" of coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness." When people refer to "bronchial asthma", they are really referring to asthma as all asthma symptoms originate in the typical airway inflammation centered in the bronchial passages, regardless of the type of asthma (exercise-induced, allergic or nocturnal). If the asthma originates from severe allergies, substances in the body cause the constriction of the airways.
Considerations
Asthmatics should learn what "triggers" their asthma attacks, whether it is dust, cigarette smoke, animal dander, exercise, stress or cold air. If an asthmatic patient needs a short-acting "rescue" inhaler, she should remember to keep it with her at all times in the event of a sudden, unexpected or severe attack. If someone with asthma also suffers from allergies, she should be tested to find out exactly what she's allergic to so she can start to take medication to reduce the severity of her symptoms.
Misconceptions
One common misconception is that the asthma sufferer is getting over the asthma attack when the wheezing stops. This is a misconception that could cause an asthma patient to die. When the airways are constricted, this causes the characteristic wheezing sound. If an asthmatic does not receive immediate treatment for his asthma attack, if the attack is severe enough or goes on for long enough, he doesn't produce the wheezing sound. This is because he is experiencing "status asthmaticus," an attack severe enough that the lungs and airways have so little air the patient cannot cough or wheeze. It is at this point that the asthma patient is very close to respiratory failure.
Warning
Asthma can't be cured. It can only be controlled. Once diagnosed and treated, asthma patients can often see an improvement in their symptoms and can return to a normal life. This doesn't mean they can stop using their inhalers or taking any other kinds of medication that has been prescribed for them. If they incorrectly think they have been cured, they will see their symptoms worsen and become uncontrolled.
Pleural mesothelioma, also known as pleural malignant mesothelioma, is a fairly rare form of cancer that affects the membrane surrounding the lungs. Mesothelioma, in any of its forms, is usually linked to exposure to asbestos, a carcinogenic substance formerly used in the construction of buildings, heating or cooling systems, plumbing materials, insulation and many other household items. When someone develops pleural malignant mesothelioma, they will begin to manifest very distinct signs and symptoms.
Respiratory Disturbance
Since pleural mesothelioma affects the membrane surrounding a person's lungs, most people will experience some sort of respiratory disturbance with this form of cancer. For some, it will manifest as a feeling of windedness or shortness of breath. Most of the time, this feeling will first be noted during periods of physical exertion, but it will begin to spread into times of rest. For others, it will actually elicit a pain or discomfort upon inhalation that can momentarily take a person's breath away.
Pain
Many times, a person suffering from pleural mesothelioma will experience not just a pain upon breathing, but also a general pain that persists within the chest. This pain is usually felt just below the rib cage; however, it may manifest anywhere the cancerous cells have formed. When someone is suffering from a pain or discomfort due to pleural mesothelioma, it can feel like a dull pressure all the way up to a sharp, shooting ache.
Cough
There is also a great potential that pleural mesothelioma will also cause a cough. More often than not, this cough will be unproductive in nature, meaning it will be "dry" and not produce any mucus or sputum during an episode. Depending on the severity of the cancer, this cough may produce some level of pain.
Lumps
For some people, the development of mesothelioma can cause the formation of lumps near or around any area of the mesothelium (the membrane surrounding the lungs) affected by the cancerous cells. With pleural mesothelioma, these lumps will develop just under the skin of the chest and will feel firm to the touch.
Weight Loss
As with almost any form of cancer, pleural mesothelioma can elicit an unexpected weight loss, especially as the cancer advances. Much like other forms of cancer, this is largely due to the calories needed for cancerous cells to thrive. Healthy cells use a "normal" amount of calories within the body, but these abnormal cells expend much more calories within a given day, making a standard diet insufficient for the sufferer. As the condition progresses, these abnormal cells increase in number, using more and more calories and causing a person to lose weight.
Scoliosis is a disorder in which the spine grows in a C or S pattern. This curvature of the spine can lead to problems with balance and hip alignment and even cause damage to internal organs. Many times a brace to help correct the curvature is effective, but there are times when surgery is required. While facing spinal surgery is frightening and there are causes for concern as with any surgery, the actual process of correcting scoliosis through surgery is straightforward and fairly simple.
Anesthesia
You will be put under full anesthesia, not a local or block type of numbing, which means you won't be awake or aware of the surgery at all.
Incision
The incision will be directly along the spine, usually from the center of the shoulder blades down to the base of the spine.
Straightening
To straighten the spine, rods or bars are cemented to the bones of the spine to hold it it straight. These rods will ensure that the spine returns to and grows in the correct position.
Sutures
The incision will be closed usually by stitching and/or bonding agents. The entire surgery can take as long as 6 hours.
Recovery
Recovery time is approximately six weeks for scoliosis surgery. This is the time it will take for the incision to heal inside and out and for your body to begin moving comfortably. Physical therapy is advised to help with the adjustment and pain that the altered path of the body may cause. Full recovery may take several months.
Pubic lice or crab lice, occurs through sexual transmission. In rare instances, the transmission of crabs occur through contact from bed linens, towels and clothing shared by an infected person. Crab lice differ from head and body lice. When infected with crabs, the lice appears strictly upon the genital region. Having a crab infestation might cause symptoms due to lice bites. Saliva injected through the bites can result in itching, lead to bacterial infections and cause the spread of the crabs. Many over-the-counter medications can treat crab lice.
Instructions
1. Cleanse your genital region with soap and water prior to treatment. Dry the region.
2. Apply the medication to your pubic hair and surrounding affected areas with the medication, suggests the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Allow the medication to sit on your genital region for five minutes. Thoroughly rinse your genital region with water. Avoid using soap, as this will decrease the effectiveness of the medication.
3. Remove nits (lice eggs) with a nit comb. Run the comb through your pubic hair. Pick out nits and place them onto toilet paper. Discard the tissue when done grooming. Put on clean clothing after treatment.
4. Ask your physician about Ivermectin if initial treatments fail. Ivermectin, an oral medication, might take two doses to successfully treat crabs.
5. Wash clothing and bed linens during your treatment to kill lice on clothing. Clothing and bed linens should be washed on the hottest setting of your washer and dried on the hottest setting. Alternatively, non-washable items can be dry cleaned or stored in a sealed plastic bag for two weeks.

The South Beach Diet is designed to help you get over your cravings for sugars and starches, but everyone deserves a treat once in a while. Dozens of dessert recipes have been created to fit all phases of the South Beach Diet, and these are only a few dieter favorites.
Frozen Peanut Butter Cup Treats
All you need for this treat, compatible with Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet, is a sugar-free fudge pop, 2 tbsp. of natural peanut butter, and 2 tbsp. of fat free whipped topping. After placing the fudge pop in the microwave just long enough to remove the stick (usually 10 seconds), mash it together with the rest of the ingredients in a small bowl for a delicious chocolate and peanut butter treat.
Chocolate-Flavored Milkshakes
Take out your blender and add 1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract, 2 tsp. of chocolate extract, 1 cup of low fat milk, 2 ups of crushed ice, and your favorite artificial sweetener (to taste). Blend on medium speed for up to 2 minutes, at which point the mixture should be a thick, frothy milkshake.
Shake things up a bit by replacing the chocolate extract with another flavor of your choice. Some people prefer raspberry extract and sometimes extra vanilla extract.
Peanut Butter Cookies
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray. Mix 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup Splenda and 1 egg in a small bowl until they are combined well. Roll this dough into quarter-sized pieces and place them on the cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart. Take a fork dipped in Splenda and press the cookies to flatten them. Bake the cookies for 9 to10 minutes, and remember--your diet allows for only two cookies per day.

There are many detox and cleansing programs available. One of the most famous is the Master Cleanse. The maple syrup and lemon juice cleanse includes lemonade and using a laxative to flush out toxins in the body. Because of the ingredients of maple syrup and lemon juice this cleanse may seem to be a simple concept, but it can be a complicated procedure.
The Recipe
Use 14 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Make sure the lemons are organic, meaning they haven't been treated with pesticides.
Mix it with 14 tablespoons of grade B maple syrup (if you're diabetic, you can replace the syrup with agave nectar and molasses) and a 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper or cayenne pepper and two liters of spring water.
The diet will probably work better without lemon pulp, as it just adds extra work for your body's digestive system.
The Laxatives
There are two ways you can take laxatives for the diet. The first is a salt-water flush. Mix one tablespoon of sea salt with one liter of room-temperature water. The taste may be unpleasant.
Another option is using a laxative tea of your choice. You should use the laxative at home for the convenience of your bathroom. About a half an hour after you take the laxative expect to make five to seven bowel movements, every 10 minutes or so. Once you can go for more than 15 minutes without having a bowel movement, you're most likely done.
The Cleanse
This procedure claims to give you strength, stamina and restore an appearance of youthfulness. You'll intake about 650 calories less than normal while on this detox program.
It is recommended that you start everyday with either a salt-water flush or drinking a laxative tea. After your laxative, you will drink all the lemonade you made at the beginning of the day. Make sure to spread your intakes throughout the day and drink all of it before you fall asleep. You should have about 12 glasses each day.
Tips
Expect to feel worse before you feel better.
It's normal to feel minor aches at the beginning of your cleanse.
It is recommended that you only do the cleanse program for 10 days.
This isn't a one-time fix.

The Ornish Diet is based on the premise that less than 10 percent of your calories come from fat. You don't need to count calories or fat grams. You're supposed to eat several little meals throughout the day because you'll feel hungry more often. It's possible to stay on the Ornish Diet while eating out, but it's difficult. Follow these steps to help you eat out while on the Ornish Diet.
Instructions
1. Choose restaurants with a selection of vegetarian items on the menu. This will make your choices easier.
2. Know that you can eat unlimited beans and legumes, vegetables, fruits and grains. You can also eat fat-free dairy products in moderation. Meats, oils, nuts, sugar and alcohol are among the foods you need to avoid.
3. Look for foods that fall within the Ornish Diet restrictions. You can eat non-fat dairy products like milk and cheese sparingly. You need to avoid oil, butter or margarine though, so it's important to know exactly how the food is prepared.
4. Tell the server what your eating specifications are. They may have suggestions as to what's appropriate or what the chef is capable of making.
5. Display a wallet card to your server when eating out. Dr. Ornish provides people who attend his retreats a wallet card to show the chef. It explains that you can't eat animal products, added fat or caffeine.

Human papilloma viruses (HPV) are the source of genital warts. There are over 30 varieties, passed from individual to individual through sexual contact. The warts and the virus are superficially harmless, occasionally causing discomfort and raising an unappealing wart or cluster of warts on the genitals, but doing no other obvious harm. Unfortunately the viruses have been strongly connected with raised chances of getting cervical cancer and pre-cancerous lesions. It's therefore important to learn avoid contracting and passing the viruses.
HPV is an STD
HPV pass through direct genital contact and through related secondary sexual activity. When the virus is carried from one genital area to another, it can serve to begin a new infection in its new site. Therefore the first methods of avoiding, passing, or contracting HPV is to avoid or control genital contact, or restrict sexual activity to partners who have tested free of the viruses. The primary methods of restricting contact are abstinence and the use of condoms. Abstinence is the superior method, but is not always possible or desirable. Condoms are effective but not fail safe.
HPV Inoculations
Fortunately an inoculation has been developed to immunize against four common types of HPV associated with cervical cancer: types 6, 11, 16 and 18. While there are more HPVs out there, and some are suspect, these are the primary candidates as contributing factors towards cervical cancer. The FDA has licensed the use of the inoculation in girls and young women between the ages of 9 and 26.
The inoculation is of no use after HPV has been contracted. It helps prevent, but does not cure. Therefore it is recommended that the shots be given to young women prior to the onset of sexual activity, or to women who have tested free of the virus. The inoculations are of great use, not only to protect individual woman--obviously the first consideration--but also to break the lines of connection that allow the virus to be passed on from one person to another. By damaging the vector, the spread of the diseases is reduced.

A drug and alcohol treatment plan is typically written on an individual basis by a client's counselor. The treatment plan details the services a client entering a drug and alcohol rehab center will get during his stay at the facility. The treatment plan should also cover plans for aftercare. Measuring the quality of a treatment plan isn't difficult if you know what to expect from your counselor and the drug and alcohol facility itself. Learning to evaluate one of these treatment plans can be an important first step if you or someone you love needs to seek help for substance abuse issues.
Instructions
1. Prepare a list of questions. Ask about the treatment facility's program structure. Many facilities can give you a handout that explains a typical day in the treatment center. Ask about the qualifications of the counselors and other staff. Include specific questions about family counseling and aftercare.
2. Visit a drug and alcohol treatment facility or inpatient rehab near you (see resources). Call ahead and let the facility know you're coming and would like the opportunity to ask questions and evaluate the program. Most facilities are open to this, especially if you give advance notice. Inform them you would like to speak to one of their counselors during your visit.
3. Ask to see a treatment plan. A qualified counselor should sit down with you and go over one. Due to HIPPA compliance, the counselor won't go over an actual treatment plan, but he should have a sample treatment plan he can use to explain the process. Look over the plan to ensure there is a good balance of one-on-one time with the counselor as well as group counseling. Check to see the types of educational programs offered. Anger management classes, drug and alcohol education, and classes to help clients get in touch with their emotions are all essential. Ask the counselor about specific approaches to his one-on-one counseling with clients. All of the components go into creating an effective drug and alcohol client treatment plan.

Cancerous lymph nodes mean that a person has developed either a primary form of cancer within the lymph, more commonly known as lymphoma, or a secondary form of cancer, which would be metastatic cancer, where the cancer has spread into one or more of the lymph nodes. No matter how the cancer of the lymph nodes came about, there are a few very distinct symptoms that can help indicate whether one is suffering from this particular condition.
Swelling
For most people, the first symptom of a cancerous lymph node is some level of inflammation or swelling of a lymph node. This can be felt (and sometimes seen with the naked eye) within lymph nodes in the neck, armpit or groin. A swollen lymph node is fairly firm and raised, but offers no real pain or tenderness to the touch. Basically, it seems just like a swollen gland.
Fatigue
As with many forms of cancer, cancer of the lymph nodes usually brings with it a certain amount of fatigue and exhaustion. This is partly due to what the cancer is actually doing to the body. Cancerous cells essentially use more calories than an average, healthy cell, leading to undernourishment and eventually a heightened fatigue or exhaustion. Also, the body naturally tries to fight these cancerous cells, which inevitably takes a toll on the system and wears a person out.
Weight Loss
Going hand-in-hand with fatigue is usually the symptom of weight loss. At first, one may not notice much change in his weight, but, as the cancer progresses, he may begin to notice what would best be described as an unexplained loss in weight.
Pain
Another fairly common symptom of cancerous lymph nodes involves a pain or discomfort within the abdominal region. For some, this pain is fairly mild, even dull. For others, this pain may be relatively strong or sharp. It really depends on how a person's body reacts to the cancer itself.
Itchiness
This particular symptom really sets this form of cancer apart from most other cancers. When someone is suffering from cancerous lymph nodes, she may begin to notice that her skin is, in fact, itchier than normal. It may be a patch of skin, an entire appendage or the body as a whole.
Night Sweats
Some people also suffer from night sweats when living with cancerous lymph nodes. A person begins to experience a heightened level of sweating that may wake him up during times of rest. Through the course of the disease, he may experience periodic episodes of night sweats and then go through a period of cessation.

Coaxial cables are an integral part of home electronics.
Coaxial cables are commonly found in almost all home electronics setups. The coaxial head connects cables to a variety of equipment. If needed, users can shorten their coaxial head with a crimper.
Uses
The coaxial head connects a coaxial cable into an appliance or electronic product. A variety of specific coaxial heads exist for different frequencies, but the most common ones are used in televisions and headphones. They are attached to the electronics cable at one end; the user then plugs it into the television or music player.
Appearance
Coaxial heads consist of a copper conductor in the center surrounded by a metal shield. They are connected to wires at the factory via bolting. Coaxial heads are famous (and infamous) to television owners as the easy-to-bend connectors at the end of cable, satellite and DVD wires.
Crimping
The location of the coaxial head on a wire can be changed using a special piece of equipment known as a crimper. Crimpers attach the coaxial head at any point on a wire by pressing the copper head-metal shield combo onto the end; coaxial heads may be purchased at most major electronics retailers.
Many individuals who suffer from ulcerative colitis (UC) have had no luck with traditional medicinal options prescribed by their physician. This leads some patients to pursue alternative-cure options. Though many of these options are not approved by the FDA for specific treatment, both the side effects and the successes are documented by the usage of patients suffering from debilitating UC.
Warning: Always consult with your physician if you are uncertain about trying any of the specific UC treatments below.
Yoga/Meditation
Stress is considered by many doctors and patients to be a leading cause of UC inflammation. While there is no direct "cause" of the disease, stress is known to cause many complications. While medicine, pills and supplements work for some, emotional healing of the body is actually more important in an alternative cure that can lead to remission.
Yoga and meditation are two excellent sources for finding emotional stability in the physical form. Both promote mental stability and coping mechanisms for stress. There have been more positive results in patients who practice yoga than any other alternative cure. You can attend a class, purchase a book or rent a DVD that can teach basic techniques to train your body's zen capabilities.
Probiotics and Prebiotics
Probiotics and prebiotics are a new movement in alternative treatment for ulcerative colitis. These items can be found in many different foods or supplements. Probiotics and prebiotics provide what is called "good bacteria" that supports positive digestive health.
Prebiotic is an all-natural material found in vegetable--like artichokes--that can help the good bacteria in your colon.
Probiotics can be found in more and more foods each day. You can walk into the grocery store and see many different yogurts with the word "probiotic" on the label. This is because many people (other than those with UC) suffer from some type of stomach problem (such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease). You can also find specific colon health probiotic capsules in almost every pharmacy.
Aloe Vera
If you scour message boards and alternative forums, the usage of aloe vera has started popping up. Aloe vera has been used as an external healing agent for centuries, and only recently have internal capsules been developed. One item to note about aloe vera usage is the amount that you will take. Aloe vera will act as a laxative for many individuals if overused, so please use caution before testing aloe vera intake.
Change Your Diet
The book "The Makers Diet" has been a boon to many individuals who thought their UC treatment had reached a dead end. The book suggests many unique foods and supplements, some of which are difficult to find and may become costly. However, if you are spending hundreds or thousands of dollars a year on medications, a few extra dollars on food and nutritional supplements may be worth trying out if the testimonials prove to be helpful. This is a widely available book.
